Default Extra 300 model differences

Can someone explaine the differences in all the extra 300 models? You have the extra 300, 300s, 300sp, 300LP etc.

All are very similar. The 300S is more of a mid wing single seat and the others I believe are a true low wing design.I'm sure someone can add onto this.

Are you wanting the history of the Extra's starting from the Extra 230? Or just the 300 models?
In addition, the 300sp (sp is for special) was a mid-wing single seat version. There was only one made (full scale).

Same thing with the "330". It was never made. Just one guy that had a 300L and put a 330hp engine in it. I think he also reinforced the stabs or something like that.
They do have a 330sc and LC now, but these came after the r/c model.

Barry: The 300 is the newest and best flying version in the Extra series of planes. The mid-wing allows for rolls and point rolls to be done easier and look better. The mid-wing allows for the plane to be trimmed out easier also. The two-place canopy allows for more side area, which helps in KE flight greatly. The plane has no weaknesses. All other Extras either have a low wing (non-axel rolls), or a single place canopy (less side area). All of them fly great, but the Extra-300 should have a slight advantage. Finally, more top international level pilots are flying the Extra-300 than other Extras.

That was very informative. That solidifies my feeling I made the right choice in an airframe. Now I just have to finish the damned thing.

Don't think so, Danny. Anyone can buy a new SP now if they want one.

I'm not sure where you are getting your information from. Here is a look at the 2009 World Aerobatic Championship roster. I see one 300, with the rest mostly being 300S, 300SP, and 300SC.

.......and another error I just realized. The 300 midwing came out before the 300S, 300L, 330, 300SP, 300LP, etc.

I think he's talking about the trends in models, not full scale.

There were still models of the 300 before the 300S and L. Besides, he mentioned the Special, saying there was only one made, kind of along the lines of the full scale stuff.
