Hi
I'm after a little help with my elevator set-up. This will be the first build i have done with dual servos for the elevators, what i need to know is do i just join the two servos with a "y" harness and run it in one channel to the receiver or do you do it another way with mixing on the radio? I'm using a JRX3810 radio. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!! |

Since the 3810 is basically the 8103 from the info I could find here is what I found for you.
It doesn't appear that it has a dual elevator setup. You would have to use one of your mixes to Aux 3 and mix elevator to that channel (for example). Or use a matchbox or SF equalizer. Or, You would have to use a reversing Y as the servos are placed opposite of one another. If you did get one, I suggest one with an adjustable POT so you can fine tune center better. I've never liked using a reversing Y for something as important as a second elevator and have found that Y's tend to not be exact in speed or throw, so it can offset your elevators making your plane not as precise in up/down manuevers.

You will need to use mix 5 or 6 with the 3810, these mixes take care of the trimming on both servo's.
It's been a whlie since I used a 3810, but if you mix with either aux 2 or 3 you will have one of the rotary dials working the sub trim. I cant remember if or how you disable the switch.

You could reverse one of the servos by swapping the positive and negative wires on the servo motor its self. Then you could use a standard y and not have to use the programming in the transmitter. I've done this several times with no issues. I really don't trust the reversing y's to far.

if the servos are mounted on their side.... you can use a normal Y harness and lay both servos down with both shafts pointing the same direction rather then having the shafts facing each other like a mirror image installation....

If you're using Hitec digitals...
Borrow a programmer, reverse one of the servos, and plug both into a y-harness. Voila!

as richo stated on that radio it is the very same as the 8103 mix 5 or 6 and use channels 3 and 8 to do this. 3 is the master and 8 is the slave. when you hit this it will let both use the elevator as the trim but the sub trim will be channel 8 as 3 will be for for other side also channel 3 will be the right side and 8 will be the left.
