Well folks, my short kit for the Zogling SG-35 glider arrived and I'll be starting the build as soon as I can tie up some loose end out in the shop. I've got two gliders I'm building for another guy to finish up and some house repair wood working type projects to finish up and then I'll clean up the shop and get started on the build.
I've gone over the plans and have come to the conclusion that it's going to be beter if I cut the spruce myself instead of trying to track down the sizes and lengths called out on the plans. I can purchase FAA rated spruce and cut it to size on my tablesaw. This will have two main advantages. Fisrts it will cost me less and second it will mean no splices in the spars or fuselage frame. Solid IS better after all. A side benifit will be that I get to get out of town for the day to go get the wood up by Atlanta. That will make for a nice little road trip. The short kit is from Vintagesailplaners.com and Jim did a great job on the plans and ribs. The ribs are laser cut and look great. So far the only thing I'm going to need to source will be the pilot figure for it. I know a good looking one is going to be expensive but well worth it. I know my LHS is going to love me when I go to buy all the silk and dope for the covering job. Can you say "Cha-CHING!!!" ? It's been so long since I've done a silk and dope covering that I hope I can remember how it's done. MonoKote has spoiled me for too long now. I know that when I show up at the local field with the finished model, I'll have to hand out towels so the guys can wipe up all the drool.Attached picture is of Jims older version of this model. He's since updated the airfoil to an Eppler 214 instead of the flat bottom one shown in the pic. Flight reports on the newer model are better than the old one. So Like thay say on the tube... "Stay tuned for further developments ladies and gentlemen. Film at 11!"

Hey Mike,
I'm doing a build log on RCG in the scale sailplanes section as well as on RC glider and sailplane in the Balsa brewery group section. I can CC it to here if you really want me to.

LOL NEVER let it be said I'm NOT different Zoomer! I'm a California hippy living in Georgia and building sailplanes in an area where they're scarce as hens teeth. Top it off with the fact that I only build woodies and that makes me different when compaired to the majority of the RC Pilots in this area.
I will be posting progress reports in this thread. I just couldn't find a tag to mark it as a build log is all.

every area has its 'thing' im lucky my club likes all things so we have no conflict,, im an odd one to, i reallly like my big aerobatic rig, but i alwasy find my self back with gliders.. that usually happens when i start having engine trobles and remember how good gliders can be.. when it comes to rc im a jack of all trades master of none guy haha. heck i dabbled with helis for bit to.. so dont let being the odd one frustrate you,,

LOL Trust me Mike, I take pride in being the "odd ball" in this outfit. Kind of like Donald Southerland in Kellys' Heros. And yes... I used to drive a tank.

What scale are you thinking Mike? I've got sailplane friends all round the world. I might be able to dig something up for you. Always good to have high friends in low places.

I have tried emailing my club in kitzingen where i used to fly this plane, with no replys.. it is called a Bergfalke III the III is critical, i dont want to go to big as to be hard to transport but i think 130 to 140 inch wing would be justifable for the trouble of building it haha. i would be happy with somethign 115 inch so its esy to display but you know haha bigger is better.. heck yea ask around would be great to see if something comes up.. thanks
mike here is photo of the one to be modeled after, few pics i have from the first few flights before i started training,, i have cockpit details

Here's a set of plans.
http://www.modelactivitypress.com/fs...Scale%20Glider If you get in contact with chris williams on RCG he should be able to help you out.I believe he is the one who drew the plans. Also found some links to build threads/info and pics. http://www.mkrusa.com/Bergfalke.htm http://scalesoaring.co.uk/VINTAGE/Bu...ergefalke.html

I've seen that picture before. Did you happen to post it on the Vintage Sailplaners group on Yahoo a while back?
