The world famous Buffalo Chip Campground is hosting it's 3rd annual Black Hill's Air Rally again this year.
Camp sites, cabins, and RV hookups are offered. In addition, there are some storage units available for aircraft, mitigating the need to tear down each evening. YES!
The Buffalo Chip (for now) is a "temp facility" (meaning it is used only for this RC rally. Just east of Ft Meade is our normal field. It's 500' of mowed natural turf. I fly my big stuff there almost daily. (50, 85, and 100cc along with my go faster nitro racers) There's no municipalities so make sure your self sufficient with power, etc. It's a really nice spot. It's been a slow, arduous task to make improvements on it since its Federal Parks land. If your coming up for the rally stop into Competition Distributing and say hello! Hey Chad - I will definately look you up when we are there. For some reason, I thought you were going to be in the sandbox during rally week. Kregg Wright (who makes the virtual cockpit photo kits - www.wrightrc.com) and I are going to stay at the chip for the rally. I was planning on bringing a couple of foamies, but might have to rethink bringing a 40% or two. I wish I could be there for the fun fly, but it is a heck of a haul for me. (1250 miles).

Here's an update:
Working with Mr. Rod Woodruff, the owner of the Buffalo Chip Camp Ground. In years past he's hosted a steak dinner that is reportedly to die for. The plan is to focus a great deal of attention on this meal and the awards ceremony. For those that don't know, I own a machine shop and I've been "voluntold" to make this years awards. I won't let the cat out but it'll be out of annealed brass plate stock with a pile of engraving. Awards: Best Pilot Ladies Choice Prop buster (hard luck) Limbo winner Longest distance (whoever drove the furthest) Club participation |
