Sorry if this has been covered in the past, I am new on this site. I have purchased a couple scale warbird kits that require power in the 80-90cc class. I am NOT concerned about "heavy" engines because most warbirds require nose weight to balance. I want an engine that is reliable when mounted invereted and in a tight cowl without over heating. Narrow profile and with good power but I am not going to hover anything. Here are my choices please pass on your experiences with these. Thanks in advance, Mike
1. DA 85 2. ZDZ Super 80 3. 3W 85 |

All three of those will work fine.
The ZDZ 80 has a ton of power, but does like to be flipped quite a bit before starting. once running though, it's a monster. The DA-85 is very reliable as is the 3W-85. I'd check the classifieds and look for a 3W-75 US or 3W-80, both are usually fairly cheap now, and weigh a bit more than the current crop which will be in your favor! And both the 75 and the 80 would supply ample power in a warbird that is up to 30 - 35 lbs.

Remember, if the carb location is a side draft, you may have to cut the cowling.
