Does anyone know who makes a Giant Trainer Arf. I may have to settle for a kit but I want one. Gasser is a definate requirement.

Don't know it that twelve footer comes as an ARF but it does come as a combo (everything you need) for about $1800.00 ! I know they offer an eight foot version as an ARF and also a 40 size. Horizon Hobbies has a 6 footer called an ALPHA 60. Really good plane. Used to come as an ARF combo but that was before 2.4 came out. Have fun shopping!

Depends on what kind of training you want to do...

Basic flight training on the buddy box? Go with the Giant Telemaster from Hobby Lobby.

A trainer to get you used to flying giant scale planes? Get a 50cc Extra/Edge/Yak and go for it, you'll never look back. They are so stable and predictable!

I guess I should have been a bit more specific. I already have several Giants that I fly, 33% CAP, 1/4 scale Clipped Wing Monocoupe, 1.20 Yak etc. I was at the field today and a guy I know had a 50cc trainer but he had no idea who made it, only that it was an ARF. That was the coolest trainer I have ever seen. He let everyone fly it and it was a hoot. It was very similar to a Nextar or LT-40. Tricycle gear. I want to have something to take newbies out with but I don't want to fly glow again. I hope this helps clarify my question. It must be able to carry a gasser.

I don't know of anybody that sells an ARF tricycle trainer with a gasser on it...I've only seen glow, electric, or nothing at all (where you have to supply your own innards.) The engine was probably the assembler's choice or a special order.

I was thinking of this one, you can use a 26cc Gas Engine; http://www.hobby-lobby.com/taxi2400_59052_prd1.htm

Here's just the thing for you:

http://www.btemodels.com/sfk.html

It's the Super Flying King by Bruce Tharpe. You'll find this sort of plane to be capable of much more than any Telemaster, senior, giant or otherwise.

I've had several seior Telemasters. They sort of stooge around. When you're ready for a bit more, they just still sort of stooge around. If that's all you want, great. That's all you'll get.
