Default Greetings from Hungary

Hello all

I'm Viktor P. from Hungary, Budapest. (Europe) I'v been doing RC for about 6 years now. First I was driving RC cars, I'v been hungarian champion in electric pro class* 3 times. *(thats 5minute race with no technical rules exccept that the car shoudln't be over 200mm wide).
Then after another year the whole RC car scene broke up due to loosing our main racetrack, so I went flying. Offcourse i started with a tutor and a "trainer" aircraft. I'v learned to fly in in about 4 hours of training, and then I went to fyl on my own. Acutally, I'v done all my modelling wiht my father, who really likes the building/setup part of modelling, but he could never learn to drive an rc car. Allthough, he learned to fly, it's still me who flies most of the time. I got a plane called Funstar (the smaller version of it) as my first "real" RC plane. The trainer was plain boreing after a few weeks. So started out into the world of 3D. I got a Funtana S40 a little later, wich I still have, the FunStar was sold a few weaks ago, and a China modell pro Lancair 360 replaced it.
I got a homebuilt electric depron plane as well, just to have something to fly in the winter.

Something else:
At the moment, I haven't been flying for a few weeks, and I won't dare go out to the field because of the happenings at the airshow which was held the weekend. I dunno if the news travelled allready, for those who haven't heard yet, the plane of a very expert (a champion, the fly-in pilot for Composite aircraft) crashed on the show, killing 2 people. It was a said it was around 17kg, 2.4m span, Official investigations are under way, but it is surely known that an everyday radio error caused the plane to fly on its own, and the wind crashed it into the audiance. It was deffinetly neither the pilots, nor the equipments fault. It could have been caused by a taxi driving by, emitting on the same frequency, or anything else like that. No one will know.
(there are some speculations that the error was deliberatly caused by a radio-amature who hates RC flying. he was caught last year on the championship for jet planes. he downed 2 planes before he was caught by the cops, but by law he haven't done anything "bad", so he was let free).
The reason why we don't dare to fly is, that RC modelling was totally ignored by the authorities so far. Now they got ther heads up and will introduce some idiotic rules and laws, problably creating a procedure like the one for haveing a driving licence. The whole point will be to pay em lots of money. (wellcom to the world of hungarian authority.. sigh)

*news: I just heard that at the airshow after the tragedy, they scanned the frequencies, and they did it during the following days too, and there was errors on and around that specific frequency at random intervalls.

Hi Viktor,

First let me say it's great to have you join us!!!

We all here at the Flying Giants send our thoughts and prayers to those involved in that horrible accident and especially to the family that lost lived ones. The actual cause will probably never be found, and that is a tragedy itself.

I hope you enjoy the site, there are plenty of things to see and read.

Welcome to the Giants!!!
