When I first started with gasoline planes I had problems with stoppers until I started using dubro stoppers. Had one in a plane for 4 years. I have the RC Pilot Kat I tossed every thing but the tank itself. I couldn't even use the fuel dot because the tygon I use was to big . Tony should scrap the tank and finish the firewall. Supply 1/4 spacers like Aeroworks does. I had a couple small issues with my plane like any arf but She flies well so I'm happy. The great thing about RC Pilot is Tony is making an effort too improve an already great hobby.

I would never use their tank setup. I'm too particular about how tanks go together.

Actually the tank set ups are fine, it is the stoppers that fail. I have had to replace two of them.

+1. That is exactly what I would have done with the tubing and the zip tie. So, there is nothing wrong there. It is the stopper and stopper only that caused the problem. Perhaps he can buy the stoppers from Dubro and finish the tank install.

Benny
Thank very much for this thread. it is really great help me to promote the product.
I believe we should promote the way how to check the quality of hardware. we bought this fuel tank from our vendor. before we bought it. we had put the stopper into the gas fuel for over one month. check it, it is no problem. so we confirm the quality of this vendor. but it seems it is really not so good.
however, I still will pre-install the fuel tank. but we should change the stopper. we decide to pay for a mold and produce it ourself now. we do not want to get it from other vendor now.
thank you for your help.

You're welcome. This is precisely why I've decided to post about it. I'm bummed to have our favorite plane down (temporarily until a new gear comes) due to a fuel stopper.

Just curious if the ethanol in our gas could be causing the problem with the stock tank stoppers?

Well I know that me and my buddy have had problems with the ethanol causing the fuel lines to swell and fall off. We both lost clunk lines within a week. I'm pretty sure the ethanol is to blame. I never had any trouble back a few years ago on pure gas.

Can you tell me what your test procedure is? Using it in flight or submerging it in gas?

So far, replacing the disintegrated fuel stopper with a Dubro gas stopper is working well (albeit not enough to tell the reliability of long term stability).

That sucks!

Did you get a resolution from Tony or from the place you bought it from?
