Default GP Reactor Bipe (EP) motor please help!

With my GP Reactor Bipe (EP) the manual suggests the Rimfire 35-36-1200 but my hobby guy doesn't have them right now and I'd like to get this thing in the air soon. I was curios if anybody might have some insight with the E-Flite motors. Specifically the Power 15 and Power 25 motors. I'm not sure as to how they would compare to the GP recommended motor.

I'm not to familiar with electrics yet. I fly the larger gas but I wanted to get a small electric that I can chuck around in a neighboring field close to my house.

Can somebody help? I want good 3D power.

(GP Recommended) Rimfire 35-36-1200
Weight 3.6 oz. (102g)
Maximum Constant Current 45 Amps
Maximum Constant Watts 666
Maximum Surge Current 55 Amps
Maximum Surge Watts 815 Watts
Silver Series Recommended ESC SS-45

E-Flite Power 15
35-50-950Kv
425 Watts
Continuous Current: 34A
Maximum Burst Current: 42A (15 sec)
Speed Control: 40–45A brushless
Weight: 152 g (5.4 oz)

E-Flite Power 25
35-54-870Kv
550 Watts
Continuous Current: 34A
Maximum Burst Current: 44A (15 sec)
Speed Control: 40–45A brushless
Weight: 190 g (6.7 oz)

Thanks!

I have the reactor bipe with a eflite power 25 with a eflite 60A Speed Controller swinging a 13x6.5apc with a 2200 4 cell. And at 2lbs 9oz its ballistic. I love it, its so much fun with that power. I wouldnt go anything less. With that setup you wont be disappointed.

Hey Geno!! How's it goig? U probably don't remeber me but we met last year at the Vernon august fun fly. Stacy tells me that u got the new AW 35% 300!! I LOVE that plane!! I'm flying the 35cc aw 260 now.

Yer reactor setup sound very close to Almonds. Rory was nudging me towards it too. INSANE Balistic!

Did u have to mod the gear to fit the larger prop? Oh and did you have to make any beefups to the plane, ie: stab, motor box etc...

Its going good. Yeah i remeber you!!! Just got my 300 done today. Got my setup idea from mike. Mike and i figure the motor he has would be compared to a power 15, as mine seems to have a little more power then Mikes. As for mods, the only thing i did was put a screw on each side of the cowl, with that power the magnet didnt hold in a flap spin. Had to get a new cowl. Prop chewed on the old one pretty good. But otherwise built it like the manuel said, I have over 10 hours on mine with no problems.

lol, I was at the field on the day that he tore his cowl up. He did it doing an AWESOME KE spin. Mike figured he was doing a flat spin but it was more like a ke spin. Sounded like the plane was gona rip apart. Like a tarp in a very heavy wind. That was the day I decided to get the reactor.

Check out the weight difference on the 32 compared to the 25. There is very little difference. I put a 32 in my Andrew Jesky Extra. It is very good 3D power. Lots of torque. That's a smaller plane than my extra. I don't know if you want to go with such a big motor. The 15 would probably be enough. My 32 swings a 14x10 at over 5 pounds of thrust at 55 amps, 3 cell lipo.

I'm noticing the continous current of the e-flite motors rated lower than I think u guys are inputing. How much amp do these motors really handle. paul5992 u show your 32 using 55amps when it is rated for 42... I'm just wondering as I'm trying to figure battery and esc for my choices...

There is burst current and continuous current. My 55 amps is burst. I bought a castle creations 60amp controller. It works great. But I'm only running 11.1 volts not 14.4 like I could. If you run lower voltage you can run a larger prop. I always thought a larger prop at lower rpms makes better 3D thrust.

If I can't get a 4 cell from Lester what would be a good choice of 3 cell with the power 25 and the power 15?

Oh and is it necessary to go with a 60a esc when the motor is only rated for 34 continous and 44 max? I guess with the 25 it could be needed but with the power 15 would you really need it or would the 40a esc be fine?

Twn. If you increase the load (bigger prop) you increase the current (amps). You have to try to keep your current (amps) under the rating of your esc. If you increase your voltage you have to decrease your load(smaller prop) to keep the current (amps) down.

You can run the esc that the motor instructions recommends.
This is the pack I'm running. I get about 5 minutes of all out 3D.

Yeah Mike told me the 60 is overkill, and yes if you went with the power 15 a 40A would be fine. I could even be using a 40A honestly. As for the batteries, i did alot of looking around. I ordered mine through Doug @ Hiflight. They are a Daulsky 2200 4 cell. I dont think you like a 3 cell. They are also a light battery. Battery fits in there perfect. I did alittle dremel work. Like 3 minutes worth in the battery department. With the power 25 i had to have all my receiver way in the back. Still unfortantely add a 1/4 oz stick on weight to balance it the way i liked it. If the power 15 you wouldnt probably need that dead weight.

With my 4 cell 2200 i fly 9 minutes of hard 3Ding, and the battery takes 45-50 minutes to charge!!

Thanks for the help guys I REALLY appriciate it.

Lester is heading through Revelstuck tonight I will see what he has.

If I have to live with a 3 cell how big of a prop do u guys think I can turn on a 3 cell and stay within the limits of the power 15 and power 25 (their ratings as very close to each other) I don't have an amp meter so I gotta guess it... U think a apc 12-5 will work?

Again I will have to see what Lester has for batteries but I will try to get a 2200 25c that will allow a 55a draw. 3 or 4 cell....

I just reference the horizon hobbies web page to get the instructions. Here is what I found. 12x5E would work.

15-size 3D ARF (converted to electric)
Option 1:
Motor: Power 15
ESC: E-flite 40A Brushless (V2) (EFLA312B)
Prop: APC 11x7E (APC1107E)
Battery: Thunder Power PRO LITE 2100mAh 11.1V 3-Cell (THP21003SPL)
Flying Weight w/Battery: 2.1 lbs
Amps Volts Watts Input Watts/Pound RPM
27.8 10.4 289 138 8200

Expect higher speeds and lower thrust for mild 3D aerobatics. Average duration is approximately 7-9 minutes depending on throttle management

25-size
Option 1:
Motor: Power 25
ESC: E-flite 40A Brushless (V2) (EFLA312B)
Prop: APC 12x8E (APC12080E)
Battery: Thunder Power PRO LITE 4200mAh 3S2P (THP420003S2PPL)
Flying Weight w/Battery: 4.0 lbs
Amps Volts Watts Input Watts/Pound RPM
36.8 10.8 397 99 7410
Expect very strong performance providing plenty of power for full aerobatics. Average duration is approximately 12-15 minutes depending on throttle management.
