Bad-ass Super Contributer!

The new DA-200 looks very nice!! But, from what I've seen, it's been used mostly for IMAC up to now.
That brings the question, how does it fares in 3D flying? Would the aft cylinders get too hot during a prolonged hover/torque roll? Anyone has had any experience with this yet? The sound of a 4 banger is too cool! ![]() Also, about tuning the twin carbs, how would you sync both carbs? How can you tell if one is rich and the other is lean for example? |

I'm curious about this too and I would like to know how it does for both IMAC and 3D. I saw Leseberg fly once and he 3D the snot out of his godfrey with the 200.

I've seen QQ unleash his big Pitts with the DA200 in it... it was simply amazing! All 3D flight... I swear he didn't get 40' off the ground, and didn't get more that 30' away from him!

I have approx. 250 flights on mine now doing both IMAC and 3D. I have yet to have any issues with it whatsoever. As a matter of fact, I haven't seen the engine since I bolted it on from DA. :-) Brian set the carbs before shipping to me, and I haven't touched the needles except to richen the high end up 1/8th (both) when the ambient temps were in the mid 90's. I've ran both AMSOIL, and Red Line in it with good results on both. The beauty of the 4cyl is that there is no "vibration wear" on the airframe. My 300 looks as good today as the day it first took to the air.

I know this thread is pertaining to 3D, but what about sound scores in IMAC with the 200?
That's my big question. |

I scribed a few flights at the NATS and the judges seemed to be scoring 5's and 10's depending on throttle management.

Frank's 200 on mufflers is surprisingly quiet... it's a pretty nice sound really.

It really depends on where you are flying, prop combo and how good with the throttle you are.
It does sound great, but for the SE local contests it would be considered loud. I watched both Jason and Frank Noll at the nats, and they are really good with the throttle and only use what they need... but it is basically two DA100's on regular mufflers though.
