Default 1st Little Electric 3D plane

Once I said I would never buy an ARF, I`m flying an Extreme Flight 88inch YAK 54
Then I said I will never own a small electric, I just bought a 2Lb 41 inch Greatplanes Yak 54

I just couldn`t resist any longer, when the foamies and little electrics come out everyone has a blast! Now we have these electric only fields popping up in the cities and I want to go!

It`s crazy!

Being new to the electrics I just went with the recommended gear with the larger batteries.
Anyone else flying one of these Great Planes Yak 54 41 inch 3D planes? I just couldn't buy another Reactor

Not the GP Yak but the 3DHS 40" Edge. It's one of my favorite planes to fly! I'm still in the early stages of "Huckin". So early, I'm not even sure I'm allowed to use that word yet! This plane is my 3D trainer to learn to hover, stay oriented in a torque roll and inverted harrier maneuvers. I can't afford to learn these with my gasser and I refuse to fly with gyros.
These little terds are pretty cool.

I've been flying a 55" yak electric at my club and have converted two giant scale gasser pilots.

They were blown away by the power it has ( 1360 watts/AUW of 5.5 lbs with battery/5s/5000mah)

If you want a nice size electric that flys like a bigger plane the GP Extra 330 58" is a great plane !

I fly a Yak 54-55" from Cermark. I'm amazed at how tight it flys.

My all time favorite electric is the Extreme Flight 58" Extra 300. I've got 94 flights on mine, and it flies like a 50cc! Rock solid, and precise! There are a lot of great electrics out there, and it's hard to go wrong now days. Have fun!

Actually, I owe it an apology. I made a few changes, I added thin carbon tail supports to strengthen the horizontal stab. I changed the linkage geometry to stiffen up the control sufaces, I took out what appeared to be a slight warp in the left wing panel tip and I had to add a 1/4 ounce of weight to the left wing to laterally balance it. I flew it tonight for 3 flights and it behaved. "Purpose" snap rolls are incredible, loops, avalanches and blenders were great! Cuban eights were good, half reverse cubans were good, didn't snap out on me at all. Landings had to be a little hot but not rediculous. It might be a keeper!

I'll work on the KE coupling and I have to learn to place the batteries to keep a consistent CofG.

I enjoyed it tonight!

Have you flown the 48" EF Extra 300 EXP with side force generators? Just curious how the 2 compare.

I learned 3D on a Great Planes Reactor, then when the wings snapped on the Reactor, I switched the equipment over to the Yak. They both flew pretty well, but I must say I liked the Yak better. Looks great too. The only down side was that the elev and rudder servos were inside the fuse... I had centering issues for a while because the pushrod was "sticking" to the guide. Once they wore down it centered great.

Nice to hear a good comment on the Yak!
Would you share your setup with me? Motor/prop /battery size and did you manage to 3D it well?

Thanks, looking forward to your reply!

Steve
