The State of Florida is pretty big. That contest is 626 miles from here.....

Really? Wow I had no idea it was that far. I've never seen a map or driven to Pensacola before... It was a simple question not a request for a geography lesson. Thanks anyways.

Hey Michael,
Yes, there are two contests scheduled in the same state on the same day. My first date selection conflicted with other events.
This IMAC was approved by Mark McClellan our Southeast Regional Director and by Don Hamilton the CD of the Delray Club IMAC in Boca Raton, FL due to the driving distances involved.

Probably a bit of a drive for you, but bring the family, check out our beaches and take a tour of the NAS Pensacola Aviation Museum. Really, it's worth the drive to see the museum.

Everyone, check out my first post for more info on a Hotel discount and directions.

Greg,

I've only flown one contest to date and unfortunately Delray is much much closer and makes it more affordable. These days any little bit helps. I hope you have another event planned after the October date, I'd be more than happy to make the drive and fly with the NW Fla crew. Best of luck on your event and I hope you guys have a great turnout!

Regards,

Michael Abraira

Thanks guys! I hope it will be a good turnout as well. I would like to order at least 16 trophy's for the contest. Only 7 pilots have registered so far and about as many have indicated their interest.

Our neighbors are very understanding for the most part and so, I am expecting to get permission to start flying earlier than 8am on Saturday. Maybe we can get in four rounds or more??

I'm planning a mid day flight demo/practice for the Freestyle guys. We usually get a good turnout of spectators and having a lunch time demo would be a treat for them.

We'll be in Boca for the next one for sure. I've really had to dance around this one. My girlfriend is missing all the shopping between here and there. Something about a Millenia Mall and Meca of Shopping .

Oh boy....Millenium mall is a danger zone. She might be getting the equivalent of a new 35% if you guys stop by! LOL!!!
It gets real bad when they hit the outlet malls in Orlando and Vero Beach....trust me. How do you think I was able to swing a 3rd 40%????

Best of luck with the contest!!!!

Michael

Tick Tock... Can we move this thing any faster? Summer around here really kind of sucks. Raining every day this week. Not a lot of rain, just big thunder storms here and there. Enough to keep me from driving 40 minutes to the field.

LOL, yeah when you figure how much we spend on our toys, can't really say much if the sweety wants a new pair of shoes. I've got my hands full here with malls and shopping, trust me. We have Destin Commons which is anything but common. Looks like we'll see you up in Toone, TN!
Can't wait for that one.

I was going to try and get some flying in too. The guys were trying to mow the field this morning for their sailplane event this weekend. Actually, it rained here in town so hard, big chubby raindrops, that the streets were flooded for a while. The field is probably an inch under water for the rest of the day. It is still raining here!!

I need to place my order for the awards next week to be sure they show up in time. I have been putting it off because I really don't want to order awards for levels that won't have any pilots flying. For example no Unlimited pilots yet and only one in Advanced. Two pilots in Intermediate, although a third may show if schedule permits I am told.
So, if there are any Unlimited, Advanced or Intermmediate Pilots wishing to fly with us, please sign up or contact me (PM) so I can tally up how many awards to order. It takes at least 3-4 weeks turn around and I'd like to be certain they are here before October 10. Thanks

I am going to update the pilots meeting to start at 8:30am and let's start flying by 9:00am or sooner. Pilots meeting shouldn't take more than 10 minutes. I recognize most of you guys and hopefully lady so the pilot meeting should be brief.
Keep in mind we have an East/West Runway so there is no Sun in the eyes. We will be facing North while flying and the sun will be off our right shoulder first thing in the morning and on our backs the rest of the day.

We will have enough pilots that I will be able to get judging taken care of. I plan on having all of us taking a turn in the judges chair. Looks like there are enough pilots that have been to judging school to pull this off so no one is pulling and all day'er.

Please let me know if I am missing anything. Thanks
