I have seen this same process done on a website some time ago, except he was building a MIG. He was also using aluminum sheets and at the end, it was a nothing you've seen before. every detail of the plane was not left out. I will have locate it and share.

That plane should be hang in a Museum somewhere. AWESOME!

What your seeing isn't meant to fly. Its the plugs for a set of molds to be made to produce and all composite airframe..

Work today so far after 4 hours...... Of that 4 hours, i spent about an hour trying different methods to make the fastener details stand out more. I've come up with a process (really just changed to a softer wood "backing" board) that works well. It allows the fasteners to punch a bit deeper, so when i roll the panels back flat, the details are more pronounced. I will probably end up re-doing a few of the panels already on the nose section with this new method, but the majority of those panels wont need it, since the detail isn't very noticeable on the fullscale anyways.

Thomas,

Have you done any test to see just how "deep" you will need the detail to stand out? I love watching this build and would hate to see you have to pull off the plates because they did not give you the required depth after you do the priming and painting on the final product.

Good question..

actually i'm not to worried about the detail not showing up... the only details that are noticeable on the Fullscale are the screws on the removable panels. If my rivet detail is barely noticeable after painting the final product, it will actually be scale in that manner. I"m making sure the screw detail on the removable panels is deeper than everything else/

Little bit more progress so far, if all goes as planned tonight (IE i work as late as i have been) i should have the majority, if not all of the upper panels on the fuselage except for 1 (i need to take it to work to shape accurately). Once i get all these panels done, i'll probably finish up the tail and then start on the wings. I may make a youtube video tonight as well... who-know's..

Were getting closer...... about 75% of the top of the fuselage is complete. I'm planning to do the speed-brake tomorrow and get started on the nose again. Once thats done, i'll complete the tail section and start on the wings. After all that is done, i'll flip the fuselage and get the bottom done.. I'm hoping to have all the detail work done around march/april time frame.
