I just realized why the front of the canopy still does not look just right. When i decided to build the canopy using the 3/32" thick balsa sheets, i had to remove that 3/32" from the outline of the canopy bulkheads. these had already been removed from main fuselage bulkheads, so it was a simple matter of using a protractor to trace the new line on these bulkheads... Well in the excitement to get started, i complete forgot to do this to the 3 canopy bulkheads that were still attached to the fuselage bulkheads...

So my initial conclusions of having to completely tear off all of the canopy were true. But i may be able to get away w/ only doing half of them.. maybe i'll do that this evening.

Alright,
Canopy version #3 is done, and i think this one is accurate enough to call the canopy Done (except for final shaping)...

I just stumbled across this thread as I'm not a "jet" guy.
Very impressive work I must say.

Here's 2 pictures of the canopy frame roughly drawn in.. its not accurate as far as placing, but its eyeball close. The real framing will be alot better.

According to my eye-ball and the pictures in the Daco book, it looks to be EXTREMELY close.. what does everyone else think?

and the real thing:

LOL wes.. yea i agree, and there is still the entire bottom and aft sides to do!

Turbines for the final product will probly be Jet Central Rhino's or P-160 kerostarts...

Here's an update:
Fuselage top sheeting is as complete as possible as i can get it for now. I'll have to finish the rest after i get the wings complete (that includes the slats). The sides of the fuselage where the gear and gear doors are have been sheeted, along w/ the extremely difficult section of the fuselage where it curves in 2 different directions (last picture). I started to remove the fuselage from the jig, as it was becoming slightly difficult to plank the bottom portion of the fuselage. Once i started to pull it from the jig, i saw that the fuselage was still very flexible and able to bow, so i decided to leave it on the jig until I get the majority of the engine nacelles planked. I'll also plank as much as possible on the bottom 1/3 of the nose section as well to try and stiffen up the fuselage, i may even have to fiberglass some parts of the fuse as well... So here's some pictures:

Fuselage is off the jig and the underside is getting sheeted and planked...
