Default "Gas" fuel fiters

Man I hate the term "gas" as used for petrol. When I was at school, gas was a state of matter, but i digress.

Can anyone advise what is a good place to get a Gas fuel filter? My LHS only seems to stock filters suitable for glow.

If you mean the felt clunk filter in your fuel tank, any small repair shop that sells and services chainsaws, string trimmers, etc will have them. Inline fuel filters to filter the fuel between your gas can and your airplane can be picked up at those same shops for use in lawnmowers. Motorcycle and auto parts stores will also have them.

I was thinking of an in-line type. Something to use between the tank and the carb. I wouldn't think that the clunk type of filter would be any good for a 2 line setup as each time you refuel, you would be backing all the crud out of the filter, hoping to filter it again as the fuel is used?

I bought a new CM-6 from my local lawn mower shop. Cost me $16 which makes me think that a production filter from them is going to be $$$$y.

there is a very good in line filter available that suits petrol [ not gas ] ha ha and nitro. i think its made by either Dubro or Sullivan. this filter has a clear tube cover and 2 or 3 mesh filters inside that are visible plus you can clean this filter by back flushing as its a one piece unit. have a look at those web sites to find it.

The inline filter you are referring to is called a Sullivan Crap Trap. It's gasoline safe, and will screen out large contaminants, but the mesh is really not fine enough to completely protect the fine passages in our gas carbs.

Try to get a very compact inline filter from a motorcycle or scooter shop. The fine pleated elements are typically in the range of 10 micron, which is more suitable for gas engines.
