Default Good Pilot Questions.

Well guys yesterday I had my check ride and due to the weather we only got the Oral portion done and I passed it. Today I had the flight portion and I passed it. So now I am officially a Private Pilot.
Well the examiner at the end of the flight ask me when I was putting the control lock on to come back to the back of the airplane. He ask this question.

When you put the control lock on why is the elevator in a down position?

I find it kind of funny that I answered it on the first try right. He said no other person has been able to answer it right on the first try. I was wondering if anyone could answer this!

Post other good questions if you like! Its just good to know as much as possible being a Full Scale Pilot.

1. Leave mixture at idle cutoff,
2. Master on.
3. Crack Throttle 1/4"
4. Boost pump ON for 3 full seconds and then immediately off.
5. Engage starter.
6. When engine begins to catch, immediately enrichen mixture and then immediately begin to pump throttle quickly in and out about 2-3" of movement back and forth.
7. Once engine is running, lean mixture way back until you get a raise in RPM.
