Default Do the Godfrey Extras...

Do the Godfrey Extra's 3D well? I've always heard good things about the Godfrey 40% Extra, but mainly from the IMAC group. I know it's a good IMAC bird but isn't the 40% Extra what Mark Leseberg Jr flew years back before he was flying the Dalton Extra 260? I was surfing the web tonight and ran across an old video on Youtube.com of Mark flying an old Godfrey. I didn't know if this was an earlier extra that godfrey used to make or if it is the current 40% Godfrey Extra 300 that is out. If so, how come more people are not flying the Godfrey extra? For the price that is posted on their site that is ( seem's to be ) an awesome price for such a good flying plane. Anybody have any thoughts on this? Just curious.

Yes! IT does do 3D great too! While i was on my family vacation to FL. I got to see DOnnie Bryans aka (flyingskunks here on FG) wring out the 40% Godfrey Extra 300. BTW, the one that mark is flying is a 330S version, with the lowered wing. The plane comes with a two wing position option. Meaning, it has two wing-tube locations one up high for the 300 version and one lower for the 300s version. The plane that i saw Donnie fly had a DA150 with Greeves pipes on it. All i have to say is that it had unlimited verticle! What a beast! I have nothing but positive things to say about the godfrey planes! They are simply amazing! I do know that the price on their website is for a kit version only. The built in the bones is around 2k, i am not sure of this so don't quote me. Lets hope that FLYINGSKUNKS sees this thread as i know he and robert godfrey are two of the most experienced with these aircraft! Boy are they lucky! All i know is that i will definately be getting a godfrey in the future. Good luck with your choice! I hope this helps

Yeah i have ran across this plane on the web last night, i will be getting a Carden Ultimate 20-300 for my primary plane for next season. But i was just curious on why there are not more out there flying if they fly so good, i understand the the kit price is great, but alot of the IMAC guy's prefer to build their own plane, so just curious on that. I will be Flying the Ultimate 20-300 for my first season of IMAC, plan to enter sportsman, been flying for 13 years now so will jump in there and see where things go, hopefully that will be a good class for me to fly in. I think it is mostly due to lack of advertising and endorsements. I am planning to start building a 36% godfrey edge this fall.

i wouldn't say that its due to a lack of advertising or endorsements, Donnie Bryans does a good job of promoting the Godfrey brand of planes also there is alot of them flying in the south aka FL. so i must say, the amount that you see a plane really depends on where the plane's manufacturer is located and how well the product is spread there........but hey.....you never know

They are a good 3D airframe. Only difference is that Mark's had bigger ailerons. We have the plane from the video here in Puerto Rico, it's still alive. Ailerons are HUGE.

the 40% Extra will 3D like a beast .........then when you are ready to IMAC the plane , just flip it to low rates and go kick some butt ....here is a pic of a few Godfrey 300's that are in my trailer ... by the way , a DA 150 with Greeve's gives this plane unreal power , 37 lbs .... stock .... if there are any questions feel free to ask ....

I very much so appreciate the offer!! Get here to Tulsa for the HEATWAVE and we can take a look at it there!! All kidding aside. These things are beautiful airplanes, I have always heard good things about them, but haven't seen any in person and the price for the kits, thats if you have a builder or like to build, are about perfect price range!
