Thanks guys for your quick support on this!

I will get more posted on the flight process when we get there.

Here is an initial OPINION ( I know this will spark debate) We are medium experienced flyers here. Just getting digs in on 3d maneuvers and such, but I have been into rc for longer than I want to admit. Everything from kit building, arfs, foamies, etc.

On to my point. Planes in the same size class like the QQ Yak etc are primarily targeted at pro or competition level flyers hence the weight savings. With said weight savings comes light construction I know of at least one person that lightly laid a QQ Yak in on its back and almost destroyed it. I can guarantee that this Yak would fare far better because the construction is of a more heavy duty quality. Now.. having said we are medium experienced flyers we look for a fine combination of strength vs weight because we WILL need to make repairs. If you look at a H9 they are tough but too heavy- on other side of spectrum. I think OMP has found a fine line of strength vs weight while keeping pretty darn good quality.

These comments refer to the construction only, I have no idea how it will fly but the design seems to be to be a good one. Flat sides lend from pattern ships while getting the roll benefit design of the 54. Again we will know that very soon!

You are going to love the Yak. Sorry to hear about the hinge issue. So far I havnt had any problems with my plane. In fact my plane fell off my second shelf in my trailer and road 100 miles on top of my 40% and no damage except for the landing gear cover.

The replacement wing was shipped Tuesday I think. We had the DOGS event thursday through Sunday. We are all hoping and praying the shipping monkeys don't destroy it! John said he double boxed it really well.

Kevin, I heard Brittany was jumping to Unlimited class next season. Apparently she has a hot shot instructor!

I guess we will find out soon enough. I apologize for wanting the wing shipped out while a flying competition was going on. We didnt realize how small of a company OMP was. we didnt know you shut down operations for these events.

Hopefully it will show soon.

Thanks

OMP is pretty much John and myself and when there is a big show going on like Joe Nall, DOGS, or Huckfest events then we won't be there. Your wing should be there today I would think.

Karl,
I will send you info on the flight with whatever I get but I will no longer be posting info here. I am tired of being the poster child for this cause. I dont really want to get into specifics as to why. Wing did show up today for everyones info. It just seems to be one holdup after another.

We have had some comp IMAC guys awaiting an evaluation from Oklahoma as well and there is no reason for me to report this product any longer - good or bad.

Mike,
There were no control horns as per my request so please send them out. There is no way to get the old ones out without destroying the old wing. I foolishly put them in as well as servos before I noticed the hinge issue so I guess that is my fault. I should have looked before sealing, etc.

Yogoblue,
I'm sorry that you feel that way, however, you asked Jeff Ramirez the owner of the plane to call OMP and ask for the wing. Jeff called and talked to me and I asked him specifically what was needed and he said a right wing. A right wing was sent as requested. If you have problems with OMP service, please call me at 937-372-0603 M-F 10AM-5PM EST and I will be happy to discuss it with you.
Best Regards.

Karl540,
There are several videos of the Yak-55 flying. The OMP website, www.ohiomodelplanes.com, has some and Sukhoikid has posted several video on this forum of his Yak-55 flying. Please check them out. Mike, designer has done a very good job of designing these two planes, the Yak and Extra, to be outstanding flying planes. Look at the videos and tell us what you think.
