Default Austin, TX Sept. 18 & 19th "Hill Country Aeromodelers"

Hill Country Aeromodelers are hosting an AMA Sanctioned - Electric Aircraft Fun Fly in Austin, Texas Sept. 18th & 19th.

Great sponsors are already lining up and we are working on more. Get this one on your calendar; it is going to be a great event. We will have many fantastic raffle and door prices.

3D Hobby Shop, with their factory pilots and a trailer full of planes have already jumped on board, and when they are there you know it is going to be fun.

All electric aircraft are welcome. We will have 110 volt power at the setup tables for your charging equipment. Plenty of shade and will have food & beverages available.

Friday is going to be free open flying for all AMA members. You can camp on site Friday night (we have water, but no electric hookups). Many hotels and restaurants close by. Saturday is the big day.

Bring what you have if it is electric, we want to see them all: Jets, Foamies, Balsa Full Fuse, War Birds, Helicopters, Scale, Giant Scale, Micro's, Scratch Built, ARF's, RTF's, 3D, sail plane, precision, heck if it flies with an electric motor, bring it. We will make sure there is plenty of time allotted to fly what you bring.

We are going to be promoting the attributes of Electric Flight by getting as many members of the press to cover the event as possible. We will have seminars during the day with subjects to be announced.

As we line things out I will continue to update!

Thanks,

Robert Youens

It'd be fun to go to an event without having to load up a trailer or the roof of my car as I normally do for the gassers. A little trunk space and a brisk drive to Austin would be nice !

Default Regarding pilot fee discounts

The pilot fee is $15 (which includes lunch on Saturday), if you let us know you are coming on this thread or on rcgroups we will discount the pilot fee by $5 dollars. I will keep a list of everyone that says they are coming and if you are on the list there will be a discount when you check in Saturday morning. Friday flying is no charge!

Oh while you are at it let us know what you are planning on flying.

I will be flying my 85" 3DHS Katana, 50" Yak, 48 inch foamy, and "blue core" wing combat plane.

Will be doing demos on some new Budget RC planes that be included in the raffle ready to fly. I will throw in a Budget RC Arrow (indoor F3P) out of my sponsored pilot stock over and above what they send for the raffle.

I know Hobby Town, 3D Hobby Shop and New Creations are all bringing planes for the raffle also.

We are working our butts off to make this a special event.

Thanks for your interest,

Robert

Correct, it is really easy to miss the turn into the park. You exit Slaughter off IH 35 head west and it is between 1st Street and Manchaca. If you print the event flyer, it has a detailed map. There is a sign for Mary Moore Searight Park (were club is located) on Slaughter, but it is hard to see. We will be putting up more signage for the event.

Look forward to seeing you there. There is going to be a lot of planes in the raffle, maybe you will leave with more than you brung.

Robert

Got you on the list, you qualify for the $5 discount. Thanks for letting us know what you are bringing.

From what I am hearing, there are going to be quite a few 60" and larger electrics. Should be a great opportunity to check out how others are setting up their planes. I wil have my 85" 3D Hobby Shop Katana.

I fly with some of the Pro-Bros from Memphis and they never fail to have a great time. It should be a blast in Nashville.

Glad to hear your comming. Just got back from the field and things are really shapping up. If you have any foamies, bring then along too, there will be time to fly everything. The only scheduled competition is a combat, it is open to any foam aircraft that uses a 3 cell battery 2200 mah or less. As I understand it (official rules will be posted by Dennis Caudle soon) we supply the ribbon. We will have one round of preliminaries in groups of approximately 10 planes at a time. The top 10 pilots from the prelims will compete in the final against each other for a cash prize. Placement will be based on length of ribbon remaining after each round. It should be Quick, Action Packed and fun for Pilots and Crowd alike.
