Those of us that have familys who get together and have to travel over the Thanksgiving holiday will not be able to participate. I vote for the weekend after Thanksgiving and a 2 day event.

12-13 hour drive each way that late in the year is too much for us so we'll miss it. Wish there was a better more centrally located site for the event.

Being a local it really doesn't matter, but I would want to have the most participation possible. It sounds like Thanksgiving will not be possible for for those with family obligations and have to travel. I vote for the weekend after 2 or 3 days makes no difference to me. It will be great ending to my first year in IMAC.

  • Thanksgiving - again great for locals as a fun fly but not so good for out of towner's.
No vote for those not willing to bust out 4/5 days travel cash?
I agree, i think it should be no less than four weeks before the shootout.

I think there are a number of people missing a key point. This proposed contest is, I believe, the Regional Championships. It has nothing to do with the "Shootout". This contest is an open IMAC event for all entrants. Tucson Aerobatic Shootout is a stand alone event which one must qualify for, and does not determine the Regional champion.

Well presented "Old Dawg".....Really old Dawg he is and he is a wise one. It determines the regional champs
and does not have anything to do with the TAS. Nice Trophies and prizes for those who happen to win their
class in the region. We are really blessed here in the SW region in that we can pretty much fly year round, unlike
some of the north eastern regions.....Snow,ice, ball freezing temps!! ****...lets fly.

If you look at the IMAC contest calender the TAS has everything to do with it. We start contests in January and have a full calendar until July 31. After that we have almost nothing. Why? Because that's when the TAS points close. So the schedule for IMAC is driven by the TAS like it or not.

Considering that this years sequences came out in October of last year it will be over a year flying the same sequences by the time the regionals are held if in Nov/Dec. Also with new sequences out in October of this year I would rather fly some tasty new sequences and move on from the same old same old.

Another factor is the younger members as well as families - we should be able to run a season calander that doesn't use up a whole year and then some. By the end of the summer the youngsters need to get back to school, dad has burned up his vacation time and then the holidays are upon us. I think we should end on a high note with the regionals held before the TAS so they are fun and accessible to all who would like to participate. Labor Day, the last big holiday of summer, seems appropriate to me as a target for regionals.

For all of those interested in attending this contest, I just got off the phone with Bernie Boland who is the CD for this event. The Southwest Regional Contest is going to be a 3 day contest held on the weekend of Thanksgiving. There will be a flyer coming out very soon with all the details on it. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up to make plans.

Good luck to all the SW Pilots flying at the TAS!!

Hey this is Darren Kuhn. I am from the nw region. My wife Cheri and I are hopefully moving down to the sw region for the purpose of better weather and for IMAC.
My question is where is the best place to live in the sw in regards to making all the sw contests without too much driving. It appears most of your contests are in CA. If that is true what part of CA would be most centrally located for the IMAC contests? If you as an IMAC pilot in the sw region could move to any city you wanted where would you move to?
Thanks
