The Showtime 4D comes with a very complete hardware kit. If memory serves correctly, I didn't have to buy any extra hardware. Everything you need is included. It's all heavy duty and more than adequate.

What are you planning on using for a power plant? I did the recommended Saito 1.00 cause it was already sitting on the shelf. It performs very well, pullout from a hover feels like a moderately powered 33% bird, verticle performance is nearly unlimited. It'll keep climbing....but eventually runs outta steam. I think a Saito 1.25 would be the perfect match for it.

Saito 125 = kickin!!!!

I intially thought about a small mvvs gasser, but when questioning Mr. Hyde himself on it, he gave me the no go. He stated that the wing loading would become too high, hence killing the performace that the plane is known for. Believe me, I didn't go easy on him, I laid it out on the table telling him that performace on it with the recommended Saito 1.00 sucked. I felt his answer was honest, but never did hear of someone that flew one with a gasser and reported back. Hey Sleepy....what issue of what mag are we talking about here. I don't subscribe to anything cause all their reports are byassed anyway. The mfg's just pay off the mags to get the good reviews.

Did you put servos and batteries on your plane?

You should be talking with Mike McConville. He designed the airplane and is an employee of Horizon, who markets this model.

The fellow who put a gasser on it is Dick Hanson, a well-respected and very experienced competition pilot who also is very knowledgeable about engines. From what I have read about him, he doesn't strike me as an "industry flack" who trades good reviews for free products/favors. He used a small gasoline engine, don't remember which one, but I do recall that it had a tuned exhaust.

I agree that this model is really too small for a gasoline engine, but Mr. Hanson made it work quite well. The article was in one of the dedicated 3D magazines. Mine has an OS 1.08 two stroke, which is WAY more power than needed for normal aerobatics. A friend has a Saito 100 on a similar-sized plane, and I believe I would be quite satisfied with that engine on my plane.

This craze for insane power, unlimited vertical, etc., is getting a bit ridiculous IMO. But I'll keep that opinion subdued so as not to annoy the flip-flop crowd. I do know that a local fellow here put an OS 1.60 on a ShowTime, and it soon pulled itself off the airframe; literally. Gee... big surprise.

To answer the original question, the kit comes with everything you need, hardware-wise. I replaced the tail wheel unit, as I feel it is too large and cumbersome, aside from not holding up in the long run. I did use everything else, which was, IMO, good quality stuff. Not the best perhaps, but leagues above the usual crappy junk one gets in a typical ARF.

I'm still exploring the capabilities of this model, having only had it out to the field once for a total of four flights. But I am quite pleased with it overall, so far. It flies incredibly smoothly, and is amazingly agile.

However, if your desire is fly your airplane like a helicopter, get one of those profile fun-fly type airplanes; I believe they are more suited to that type of "flying"...

I am flying my Showtime with a Saito 150. This plane and power plant combo does everything I want, and more.

I have had the cowl off several times and haven't noticed any indication of a firewall problem.

That being said, my setup continues with all Hitec 6965's and a 2700mAh NiMH that I use for balance.

I have torn the landing gear off the plane, stalled it coming in, inadvertently hit my spoileron knob and didn't notice, lost lift at 4 feet. When I repaired the bottom, I checked the firewall, no apparent problems.

This plane flies very light, and lands in a harrier all day long.

I apoligize, I meant Mr. McConville. Works been killing me lately......unforunately all my airplane info is getting scrambles with the bytes I deal with at work. I simply crossed names. The thred is on the "other" site. I'm sure it could be found with some searching.

Sry bout that

well..... its all setup and ready to go... just got on the PC for a while soo sorry for no replys. the plane is such a nice plane what i love about it soo much is, how its allpretty much made! didn't have to drill out the screw holes for the cowling or canopy. only big things were cutting out the cowling and mounting the canopybut I hade them finished in 20 mins. im worried about the servos tho.. only Hightorque servos i have, that i can use, are the Futaba 3305s and I'm mostly worried about the rudder. and i need to get a longer servo arm for the rudder cuz im only geting like 33 degrees to the left and 35 degrees to the right. I will soon get some money to buy a bigger servo for the rudder just hope it works good on the maiden flight. andI still have to break in the Saito. I can't find my lil' starter for the lil' planes! alls i can find is my big starter for the gassers i got only one quick picture of it but i'm gunna go out side with it later and take more nice pictures

ahhh! i can't find the quick picture of it.. ahh i got to take more later soo yeah pics will be COMIN!

I'm running Hitec 5475 Karbonite gear 76 oz. servo's on all surfaces except rudder. I have a Hitec 5645 on there. It's rated at 168 oz. I like the setup that's on it. It flies great and have had no worries about blowback. The rudder is very sensitive, you shouldn't need more throw than that to get it maidened. I would also guess that to fly KE I'm not even using that much. I don't have to lean on the stick very much.
