Hello, I was thinking of getting a Foamy or non-foamy/parkflier in which I could start to teach my 6 year old how to fly... Meaning I am looking for something that is TUFF!! and preferably rather inexpensive to repair, and quick to get into the air. I myself have experiance, with Helis and now am getting into nitro and gasoline planes. I just have no experiance with electric engines, and smaller fliers. I'm just in a impulse buy kinda mood...and am looking for something that I could include the kid in/ buddy box with him if possible, or even put him on my flight simulator first to get a feel of the controls. All and all to have FUN! Being able to run down to the near by Hobby town to get a common part would be a big plus too...or atleast something that has parts easy to find. I'd like something medium to larger in size..which wont blow away with a simple breeze if possible.
Oh, and I don't mind spending a few more bucks for something that looks good and flys better. I found 3Dfoamy.com and liked the look and size of their Superxtra.... or am I jumping to far ahead?? http://3dfoamy.com/images/SuperXtra/DSCF0027.JPG http://3dfoamy.com/SuperXtra.htm I also like the look of their Katana, http://3dfoamy.com/images/000_0005.JPG WAIT!! I just understood that these have to be scratch built...I would just be buying the plans... Meh...can anyone suggest a ARF which look as good as these?? lol Thanks Chris. Hi Chris,
3DFoamy does sell kits, but NOT ARF's. Their planes are AWESOME, but not really meant to be a first plane/trainer. They are great for learning 3- D and very capable of being hucked HARD! I just bought and have been flying a ParkZone T-28 and it flies really good. I think it may be what you are looking for. I am not that familiar with other electric foamies, so there may be some other great options out there as well! Good Luck! Regards, Astrohog |

You might look at hobby lobbies yak foamy, it is a kit for around 20 bucks easy to build and fly and they are fairly tuff

I like the Parkzone Corsair is the RTF worth it compared to the ARF? I have 3 transmitters already and was hopeing to use one of them...but by the time I piece out a battery and reciever, I'm betting I'll be close if not over the price of the RTF version for about 279.00 plus tax. The RTF comes with a 2.4 transmitter/reciever , I was wondering if anyone has it...if so, does it have a outlet to connect a trainer box to it. Also, can a 2.4 transmitter be buddied with a non 2.4 transmitter. If it can't or doesn't have the connection I'll deffinatly get the ARF.

I TOO RECOMMEND THE T-28 . ITS TOUGH AS NAILS AND PARTS ARE READILY AVAILABLE . I WOULD ALSO SUGGEST A SPEKTRUM DX 6 OR DX7 SO YOU COULD USE THE TRANSMITTER FOR FUTURE PROJECTS.

The Parkzone T-28 is the easiest to get in the air, and easiest to fly trainer I have ever flown. I can't count how many new pilots I have seen have success with this model at our electric field. The stock parts are all good too. Should keep you and your son happy for a long time.
The Corsair looks a little cooler, but is just a touch more difficult to fly. |

Get a GWS slowstick glider kit. 20 bucks -Use 400 brushless motor, 20 amp speed control, 10x4.7 prop and a 1500 mah 3cell lipo. After he has learned the basics you can move him to something else.. If he catches on well you can get one for you too and tie on some streamers and combat each other.

I'm actually gonna say this.......
With some training on the simulator, I know, without a doubt, that your son could fly a DW foamies 38" Gen-x. They can assemble in an hour or two, and are great for people who just wanna have fun! It's a 3D/Pattern plane, but can EASILY be a trainer with the rates turned down. I would know, I trained a few friends on it! One of my friends had only hopped on the simulator for 15 minutes, and had no prior RC experience, but he could fly the Gen-x easily. You can have the gen-x up and running for about 220$ |

However, the super cub is probably a little more durable. And RTF so can't make many mistakes haha.

Airfoilz are great. I have seen two people learn to fly on these planes from knowing nothing about RC. Very durable and fun.
