Alright, I am planning on stepping into large scale planes and I need some help choosing which one would be the best. I am looking for a plane that will track extremely smoothly and fly IMAC extremely well, and not be too twitchy. I would also like it to 3D well. I don't do hardcore 3D yet, but I would like it to be able to when my thumbs catch up. It needs to be of excellent quality, and most of all it needs to be very easy to build. I have a lot of confidence in my ability to fly, but I'm not the greatest builder. I'm sure I can accomplish an ARF build but the easier the better. I will be using Hitec 7950TG's on all surfaces (I know for some planes it will be overkill, but I want to be able to use them in a larger 40% when I upgrade later). For the 50CC planes I would be using an Evolution 58CC GX2, and for the 85CC planes I would be using a DA 85. This isn't meant to be a vs. thread, I would just like some practical info from people who own or have owned one or more of these planes and which plane you feel would be a good fit for my situation. Thank you in advance for your advice I appreciate it. Here's the list of planes I am looking at:
1) Aeroworks Extra 300 QB 50CC 2) Aeroworks Yak 54 QB 85CC 3) 3DHS Slick 50CC 4) Pilot RC Yak 33% 85CC 5) Dietrich Extra 260 75CC 6) Comp Arf extra 260 2.6m 85CC (Have no idea on the pricing since I haven't called, if you know let me know). 7) Comp Arf Yak 55sp 2.6m 85CC 8) PAU ExtraSP 50CC 9) PAU Pitss Bulldog 50CC |

I'd lean toward the PAU Extra for the 50cc. I've seen it fly up close and it rocks on the DA50 so your choice of motor will do just fine.

Have you considered the extra 300? I own one and for a 50cc plane it is huge. 88.5in. wingspan, 87in. long, huge rudder.
It imacs very well and tracks straight and true. It 3Ds terrifically as well. Ask anyone on here, the extra is one of the best planes around. Chris does his homework!! |

85cc plane hmm. Check into the new Raven and Extra 260 EG Aircraft has. Or even the 102" Yak and Extra that OMP/EG Aircraft has. Trust me you will like the construction of these new bird. I am loving my Yak and I have also flown the Extra. Both GREAT flying planes. Also keep a look at for the 50cc Giles we are coming out with this September!!!

i am partial to aeroworks planes myself and after talking with rocco and mark dennis they gear there planes more for imac but they also told me if it is set up for good imac it can 3d well. but the aeroworks will come in alittle heavier for there class but thats not a bad thing for windy days and competing. 3dhobbyshop also know those planes alittle and fly very well also. that slick flys great and huge wing area. talking to some imac guy in my region havn't heard anything good about the composite planes. and it seems to me that the pilot rc planes are kinda geared for 3d more. build very light. just my thoughts. go to some local imac events if that is what you want to do and get some other opinions. you will find a wealth of info there.

James, are you referring to all of aeroworks planes. As you know, I am looking into the 100cc plane and I want it to be able to do 3d very well as well as Imac.

Thanks for the info, right now I think I am leaning towards the 3DHS Slick or their 300 SHP. Any other opinions would be great thanks.

well execpt their new mustang, i dont think it will waterfall very well but yes i was refurring to there gas planes. mark did tell me that the yak's are more precision biased but 3d well and the extra's 3d alittle better as far as less wing rock goes and are not quite as precise but still imac very well. someone like me with limited skills would never know the difference

If you want a 50cc airplane that tracks well, and is excelent for IMAC, AND 3D, I highly recomend the Extreme Flight Extra 300. It's quality is top notch too! I'm still getting used to mine, but can't say enough about it! It flies IMAC SO well, and when you want to 3D, it'll slow down to a crawl, but still remain totaly rock solid. Here's a video of my freestyle with the Extra: http://www.flyinggiants.com/gallery/...5&ppuser=18976
I haven't flown all the planes that you're looking at, but I know that they're all good, and you probably won't be dissappointed with any of them. I am just very partial to the Extra 300 models, and Extreme Flight IMO makes the best one too! Just my 2 cents. I wish you the best with whatever you decide to get! Have fun!

I'd go with a larger 50cc plane if you want to use the Evolutiuon 58. There are three very good choices: Extreme Flight 88.5" Yak or Extra (I have both), and the 89" AJ Slick. I use Chris Hinson's rule: get the largest plane your engine will fly. Bigger flies better.
