Default Can I use a throttle curve with an electric?

I'm just courious, I use a throttle curve on my 40 size profile and gasser, but I also have an Airfoilz foami and was wondering about a throttle curve. I have a Scorpion 2215-18 motor with a Scorpion 35 amp esc. Can I experiment with a throttle curve without messing up the speed controller or motor?

Yes,

Electric Helicopters do that all the time. Just a quick question though, why? Most electrics I have, have a very linear throttle response, the only reason I use curves on my gassers is because the response isn't very linear at all and needs a curve to linearize the power over the band.

Have fun experimenting and let us know if you find an improvement and what combination you used.

Throttle curves work just fine on electrics. I've found the throttle to be a bit more linear on electrics, but you can still use a curve to fine tune it.

Ya, I really don't think I need a curve at all, but I just want to experiment to see if it will help with hovering. It seems sometimes I have it, sometimes I don"t.

I use a throttle curve on my foamie so that I am hovering right at mid stick. I like to use my radio's functions to make my flying experience as easy and enjoyable as possible.

Enlighten me. Throttle curve on an airplane ? What's it for ? what are the advantages and disadvantages ? I've heard of using it in Helis but not in airplanes

It makes the throttle response linear(in most cases) so there is a steady increase or decrease in rpm as the stick is moved. A common use for it would be on gas engines where they are running at full throttle at 3/4 stick...you can make a curve so full stick would give you full throttle and 3/4 gives you 3/4 power and so on.

Ahhh I was wondering... I have my first gasser and I thought it was my linkage setup causing that... so that's a habit of gassers for the most part.... I might give that a shot. I did notice that full was about 2/3 or 3/4 stick

Yes,

all of my gassers have benefited from throttle curve to linearize the power band and make flying more enjoyable. Many people also mix in a high idle switch so that the engine maintains a slightly higher idle through maneuvers then during landing and roll-out you can switch to a lower idle. Try it, you'll like it.

Most definately you can throttle curve your electrics. You can put a curve in about anything that has an engine/ motor on it.
