Excellent review!

I'm very interested in this plane and planning on purchasing one over the next few months. I was wondering what kind of Tx/Rx equipment did you use and also which Battery packs.

I currently use Futaba Tx/Rx and plan to purchase the 6CH 2.4 Ghz system for this plane, Futaba seem to be using only NiCd battery packs while I was exploring the option to use either NiMH or even the new A123, would appreciate your thoughts on this.

I used my Futaba 7C 2.4 Ghz radio with matching 7 channel futaba receiver (617). As far as the flight pack goes I use a Tanic Pack 2s 1300 mah A123 pack (only 3 oz.). This seems to be an excellent setup for this airplane.

Hope you enjoy your Cap!!

I flew the electric version for the first time today and I really enjoyed it. It was a friend of mines that I test flew. I really like it!

Tim,

Thanks for the reply and information, I just placed the order for the plane and already can't wait to get it.

I was wondering if you could help me figure out how the tanicpack should be designed, I'm having a hard time selecting the proper Plug, Tap connector and Wire.

I'm going to use a Futaba 7Ch 2.4Ghz Receiver (R617FS)

Thanks again !

xtrm,

The tanic A123 pack can be setup with pretty much any type of balancing tap you need. I went with a TP (thunder power) tap because I primarily have TP battery packs and my chargers have TP balancers.

Brian at tanic packs can attach a TP, Astro "Blinky", Cell Pro 4 nod, Cell pro 10s, or Hyperion/Polyquest balancing tap for you on your A123 pack.

Tim

hi..i just bought 1 of the gp matt chapman planes from tower hobbie , i was wondering if the saito .82 4 stroke would be a good motor for 3d flying, and or at least be able to pull out of a hover, and also what size prop would you recomend for this....thank you

A Saito .82 would be a good motor for this plane. For 3D I would try an APC 15 x 4W once the motor is broke in.

15x4w is actually to big the 14x4w is good for 3D

Hmmm......I had no problem flying a 15 x 4W on my O.S. .81. I think the 14 x 4W is a great prop if you want a little speed but it will lack the pullout power on a plane that will be nearly 7 lbs. RTF.

14x4 is all iv ever run on my saito .82 and it had plenty of power for planes. Had it on an old reactor from great planes that weighed just over 8 lbs and it still pulled out good.

In the end though its all personal preference so just try a few different props out and see what you like the best.

The saito .82 is a great motor for 3D has loads of torque for the bigger props needed for 3D. Great choice but i will say they do cost a good little bit of $$ but IMHO are well worth it
