Since you aren't going to be utilizing the cannister tunnel, you can stuff a smoke tank/pump in there...

Got Mine!!
No damage found so far. It's awesome. Don't have a manual on line for the 300. CSpaced- If you would be kind enough to give some step by step directions I would appreciate it. I can figure most things out but have no idea what the wire trellis is or where the C/G is. I also need help with posting pictures. I tried to post some but couldn't figure it out. Old Tom |

For posting pics. 3 ways.
1. Click on the "Go Advanced" tab at the bottom. Then you can either click on the paperclip on the top menu or scroll down to manage attachments. Once they are uploaded then click on the paperclip again and you can then insert them into the post wherever you want. 2. If you have already hit reply then you can go back in the edit menu and do the same as above. 3. click on the mountain pic in the top. Then post the URL link in where the picture is located on the net.

Hey Tom,
Glad you got it in one piece! Most of the assembly is pretty straight forward, but here's some suggestions: Start with going over the covering with an Iron. I like to get them on their wheels asap, so install the main and tail landing gear. Install the threaded rod for the rudder and glue the hinges into the airframe, add the metal tiller for the tail wheel springs on the bottom of it. Install the hardware onto the ailerons and elevators, making sure to use thread lock. Install your servos (making sure they are centered) in the wings and the stabs, plug in the stabs and bolt them on (use threadlock). Fuel proof the firewall, drill and mount your engine. Setup your fuel tank, run the lines and figure out where you want to put your ignition etc. Install your switches. Cut the cowl for your particular engine. Seal the hinge lines on all the control surfaces. Bolt on the wheel pants. As Jeff said, the wire parts are aerobatic sights that bolt onto the wingtips, not needed for flight just a nice scale touch. As soon as I figure out where the CG should be I'll post it up, but your batteries should be the last thing installed. Most of the above you can move around and do in any order you choose. If you get stuck on anything just ask away

Thanks sweetpea. Once again you are teaching me how to use my computer.
![]() Gone over the wing and the stab with the iron.Installed the servos in the H Stab. Do not have the servos centered yet. Planing on doing the fuse and the ruder in the morning. Question? We didn't get hex nuts to lock in the titanium push rods. Do they need them. Its a turn buckle type which I like but that means that one of the sides is a left hand thread. What size thread on the rods? |

Tom,
No nuts needed on the titanium pushrods. You are correct that one side is left-hand thread. You will see as you thread them into the 4-40 ball links that they are quite tight. Again, they are 4-40 thread. I have even run a 4-40 tap into the ball links so they thread in a little easier. once they are installed they work like a turnbuckle, you canput a small wrench on the squared-off middle part and make fine adjustments as needed without removing either end from the ball links! Regards, Jeff |

Tom,
The turnbuckles are the easiest links for fine adjustment. Just make sure to use the regular thread on the aluminum connector side, and the reverse thread into the ball link. |

I tried a 4-40 nut on the right hand side but couldn't get it on. Made me think it was metric. Should have tried another nut. |

Made some progress. Got the servos in the wing. Changed the aluminum screws to stainless in the ailerons. The aluminum bent with a slight squeeze from the nut. I'm going to change out the elevator screws also. This is a mater of preference. I need to do it to ease my mind.
Picked up a Dave Brown 4in Spinner at the LHS. It looks nice. ![]() Question. How do I locate the engine to have it come out in the right spot to the cowl? Since the cowl is already mounted, I can't move it. I glued the ruder in with gorilla glue. Never used it before but it is a lot easier than epoxy. I fuel proofed the firewall with a thin coat of 30min. epoxy. Unfortunately the progress is going to slow down cause I'm busy the next four days.Still going to sneak a little work in on the 300. Looking good Tom!
The small cross hair on the firewall is the center line of where your engine should be mounted. Using that as a reference when you drill your mounting holes, your engine will be centered on the cowl. |

Couldn't find my motor mounting template so I went by measuring the holes in my P-47.
I double checked my measurements before I drilled the holes and got it a 1/4 in to low. Its OK. I can fix it. I just don't like to mess up. ![]() Old Tom |

Tom,
It's probably too late, but you can get alot of assembly information from the PAU Sukhoi Manual that is on the website. These planes are very similar as far as assembly goes. Every PAU manual has a DA-50 mounting template as well as a throw gauge at the end of the manual. Regards, Astrohog |
