Ken,
How does it compare with a 260? How much coupling are you looking at? Can't wait to get one of these.

haha, impossible to answer as I have not flown them all. They very from mfg to mfg. Let me put it this way, most tend to couple to the wheels whether just a little or a lot and may have some roll added in depending on the design. Edge's, Yaks, and Extra's of the mid wing variety like the 260 tend to have the least amount to correct for. I flown some mid wing designs that coupled like crazy so it's not everything. Comparing PAU planes, I think the Extra has a tad more than the Edge and less the the Sukhoi. Again it's minor and should be expected based on the design. Everything's a trade off when trying to keep scale appearance while improving the performance for R/C.

Here is a picture of my porcupine. Didn't know how many to put in. That should do the trick tho.

I have only bin back in RC for 11 months. We didn't have planes like these in 92 when I got out. I know what you guys are talking about coupling. I just don't know how to correct for it. I can do it with the thumb but can't do it smoothly. Hope you guys can find the time to teach me how to do it.

Ken I know what you mean, I have an EF yak with very little coupling one way and and a little more the other. I have the same size magichand yak and it has at least twice the tuck to the gear. I have always just thumbed it out. Too friggin lazy to mix it out on the radio. I am like you I like to fly on high rates with a little bit more expo to soften the center. How does it hold inverted at 6"? Do you have to put any down stick or will it fly level inverted? Sorry for the all the questions?
Thanks
Jeff

Jeff,

NP, at 6" it needs just a little pressure on the stick. Basically just breathing on enough to know that your inverted.

With the help of Manny (airborneSGT), we got a lot of work done on the Extra today (much thanks!). I don't see any reason at this point why I can't get it in the air next weekend. Manny took care of the wings and stabs while I worked on the fuse. In the pics you can see how I ran some tubing around the edge of the gear cuffs, and then used a small bead of "goop" to glue them to the landing gear. The DA-50 is now mounted, as well as the ignition, fuel tank, rudder and throttle servos. I need to find a switch, ignition battery, and spinner and I'll be good to go.

Looks good to me, like Sweetpea said - let us know what radio you are using and we'll talk you through the mixing.

I think the plane takes a 4" spinner. I was also looking at white but wanted something to set off the silver under the wings.
Thoughts?
Thanks

Awesome! Post up some pics when ya get it

You are correct on the 4" spinner. I'd have to say either the white or silver spinner would be good - I use the white no limitz spinners on my Sukhoi and Edge - they are light, inexpensive, and easy to cut.

Sorry guys I had to go to the movies with Mama. The movie about Dillinger. It was pretty good.

I have a spectrum DX-7. I got the Elevators to work together today. I did it in 1/2 the time that I did the H-9 260. I'm learning slowly. The only mixing I did so far has been to match servos.

The cuff looks good. I think I can do that. I'll do that the same time I do the wheel pants mod.

A little note: If you are going with a dual lock servo arm (such as the JR servo Arms) I found it easier to mount the arms on the servo first, then trim the balsa sheeting (or enlarge the elevator arm hole) to get the arm to clear.

Also the nifty tool that Tony showed me helped a lot today.

Looking good, Chris. That tubing on the cuffs should allow some cushion when the gear flexes on landing (It doesn't flex much though!) Looking forward to hearing how you like it's flying qualities. I think it's the best precision 50cc I've flown, and the 3D is great too!
