You must be able to see the pilot and panel.

Not at all. Pilot and panel must be visible.

Here's the rule:

6.6: A realistic three-dimensional human pilot and viewable instrument panel shall be appropriately installed in all Scale Aerobatic aircraft.

Does the pilot have to be viewable, or just the instrument panel? Viewable at what distance? If you can see them with the sun shining in just the right direction and your face is against the canopy, is it viewable?

It’s all open to interpretation, isn’t it?

I don't see alot of CDs checking for this and I heard a rumor that the rule is going away anyway.
