Glad to hear Bob at FlyingFoam is doing the cores, he does do a good job and he is about 10min. from my house. What is the time frame Aerotech is looking at for the first run of kits, Februaryish?

So what are your new projected weights for this plane now that you have a better idea? It's looking like 46-47 pounds with the 200 I would guess:
28 pounds for airframe, gear, and wheels
14 pounds for engine, ignition, exhaust, prop, spinner, and throttle servo(this is a guesstimate)
3 pounds for 12 servos(I assume 3 per wing 2 per elevator 2 dor rudder or 4 rudder/1 per ele.) , linkages, horns and wire
1 pound in batteries
.5 pound in misc electronics & hardware
.5-1 pound in covering, paint, and additional finishing materials.
Again, just a guess...

We really have very few hurtles left to cross to start boxing these things up. We need to create the production tooling for the canopy and figure out how to recreate Bob's fiberglass masterpiece on the front end .

I think your on track with you estimation, Mine will most likely be the heavy one due to the 1 LB. foam. The kits will have 3/4 lb. foam and that is around a 4 lb. savings on this airplane.

You are right, I did not use the 3M 30-NF on the wings, but I will on the next one, there is a nice weight savings using this adhesive. Again, thanks Dean & Rick.

Isn't that a little on the low side?

I've recently build a 120 sized glow profile (68" wingspan) and it's covering ended up at 220grams (roughly 0.5 lbs). I used Oracover all around, with transparent red (which is lighter, almost like Oralight) for the undersides of the wing and stabs.

On my 31% Extra (94" span), there was about 1 lb of covering (all Oracover with transparent on the undersides as well).

So, on a bird this size (55%), I'd guess at least 2 to 3 lbs for covering... Can anyone confirm that or I'm missing something?

Judging from my 40% covering (Monokote) that came in around 15 ozs for the entire airframe, I honestly think it will come in around 1 lbs. 8 ozs - 1 lb. 12 oz. I am going to keep the topcoat finish just a light as possible by removing as much primer as possible and keeping the clear coat to a minumum. The wheel pants before prime weighed 3.7 ozs. each, after prime they weighed 4.2 ozs. each, so they were sanded until the weight was 3.9 ozs. I will do the same thing on the engine cowling untill it is as as light as I can get it also.

Is the lite mono coat colors comparable in weight to the lite ultracoat colors?
