Hello Roger, I have indeed built wings this way in the past, and it is great way to build, it takes longer, but its good. I am interested in the kitting of this aircraft and most builders would not want to go with something they have not done before, or something that would take alot of extra time; they would rather go with what has worked well for them for years.

Question- you seem to know exactly what each part of the airplane should weigh to hit the target weight. What overall weight are using for engine, servos batteries etc.. on this build? Will it be 2 per wing, 1 per elevator, 2 rudder or due to size it will need more?

Thanks
The ailerons will have 3 servos each, two on each elevator and 3 on the rudder, I am allowing 6 .5 lbs. for servos, radio gear, batts and extensions. I am also allowing 12 lbs for the powerplant, headers, pipes, prop and spinner, so I guess we will see.

Bob

Hi Bob, i'm finding this thread, as with all your others, is simply amazing! i learn more from your threads and everybody else's comments then from anywhere else!
Do you know if this does make it as a kit, what kind of price one would expect to pay? and what it would include?
I must say that i've not really been that interested in owning a 55% plane before, but now that your talking some seriouly light weights and being able to run on 170cc really makes this appealling and within the reach of many.
What would the servo requirements be on this bird?

Thanks Dean, maybe if you could get away one weekend and come to SA with George, we could fly together, and you could try out my 40%, after flying, we could go to the house and you could have a look see for yourself.

Man, the pics just dont do the fuse justice, it looks so much better in person, it doesnt show how smooth the wood is sanded. I cant wait to sheet this one...

Good work Mike! Keep up the hard work!

Well to be honest, Matt and I have had limited discussions on the matter, and the truth is, there is not all that much more material in this build than a 43%. I think it might be fairly reasonable, I can't throw a price at it just yet because Matt has not really had any time to go through everything on it, but maybe soon we will all know.

well... i guess that cat is "out of the bag"!!! lol

we at Aerotech R/C Models are absolutely honored and thrilled that Bob has contacted us about kitting this tremendous project! We are eagerly awaiting the flights of the proto to determine any alterations necessary to make it everything that we know it can be. We have no doubt that this plane will have everything it takes to compete in any arena and that it will have the structural integrity necessary to be a very long lasting plane. like Bob said, the materials shouldn't be that drastically different than a 43% kit so the price will be able to be surprisingly low when compared to other planes this size....

we will have more info about the production models in the future. we need to let Bob focus on perfecting this proto first.

with that being said.... keep up the good work Bob!!! it's a pleasure and an honor to be associated with you and your work!
