I know people will have different opinions but what is the best 50cc plane for 3D Flying? I Have a DL 50 and was looking at Pilot RC (really like their schemes) and aeroworks. I'm not limited to those brands and would like to hear the good and bad about any brands. Does anybody have 2 dfferent models for a good comparison. Or even a good model that the company just happens to have a sell on right now? Thanks for any input.

While I'm partial to Extreme Flight (love their Yaks!), from what I have seen you'd be very happy with either brand you are looking at, so lets talk models.
For 3D, (and this is just an opinion) the planes that seem to do everything 3D, and do it well, are Yaks (both the 55 and 54) and Edge 540s. Most of the 3D stuff I do is with Yak 54s and I've never had a problem doing any of the crazy stunts. The lighter the better, along with the best servos you can afford, remember moving BIG surfaces requires BIG torque along with not over heating and losing power. Centering isn't as important as it is in IMAC precision flight, but FAST is important, so once you get to the better digital servos that are fast and high torque, the centering is usually very good as well. Good luck on your search (oh and one thing in Pilot's favor is that you can design a custom scheme for a little more money so nobody will have the same thing when you get to the field!).

Well, if you're looking for a plane for 3D only, I'd go with the EF Yak-54, or wait a bit, and get there Edge 540. There are many great planes that would fit the bill, but those are the two that I would go with. Just as Mad Dog said, don't skimp on servos! If you want the plane to perform to the max of it's abilities, you'll need to put good equipment in it.
Have fun! Here's a pic of the Edge that EF will have out soon:

i have the aw yak and it is an awsome airplane but i think for big 3d it might be limited due to it's weight. if you kept it as light as possible it will still be around 18lbs. for 3d i think you can't go wrong with the 3dhobbyshop aj slick. it will be around 19lbs but its wing area is huge so it floats.

they are, like i said i am partial because i own one.but i really like it alot very stable and predictable. it does have a little wing rock in harrier and elevators but not that bad. i think the extreme flight yak is a good choice also,so i've heard. i think they are coming in the 18lbs range but have alittle more wing area. i have a full canister exhaust and that added almost a pound. if you leave the stock muffler it will save alot of weight.

I'm gonna say hands down Extreme flight 88" Yak..
I got my maiden in yesturday and all I can say is WOW! This is the first time I have ever flown a Giant scale before, coming from nitro burners..Didnt have any issues and just a couple clicks of trim and a bit of mixing (thanks Josh) it flies with authority..Heres my setup.. DLE 55 really surprised me even being on the breakin flights, Pretty sure it will be a powerhouse. 7955's everywhere A123 Rx 2300mah noBS A123 Ignition 1100mah noBS DX7 This is the best plane I have ever flown and I havent got to wring it out yet..This would be great 1st gasser for anyone..Verry smooth build. Not any isseus..I consider myself being an intermediate pilot and with the dual rates set low I almost think you could train someone how to fly because this thing really floats..Im in love!! Awesome job Extreme Flight on this truly incredible Frame

you are really going to get other peoples opinions here and it's going be confusing. choose a company that you know has a good reputation and you like the scheme and go with that.

Want to know a great unbias way of picking a plane for 3D?
Take a look at the Huckfest pictures from each of the events. While your looking through them, take notice of what 50cc airplanes are there. These are real facts. These guys are the heart of the 3D crowd, and you can see what planes they choose to fly.
