it would be nice to get back on topic though. i am curious on ACTUAL comparisons on the 2 planes. i have seen both fly and haven't flown either. but they do both seem to be great airplanes. i also see them both at imac events so they gota both be pretty good.
Owned both. Quality is simple better on the AW by a long shot, but the H9 quality isn't bad, and part of what makes the AW better quality is that there is more structure to it and more glue - of course that means more weight.
My H9 had CF tuned pipes, power expander pro, CF wing tube, dual A123 2300's and another for ignition. Didn't do much to lighten it and even installed the pilot and I came in at under 26.5 pounds. Similarly equipped, the AW would be pushing 28 pounds.
Both planes fly awesome, but if I wanted one strictly for IMAC, or at least mostly IMAC I would choose the H9. It grooves, tracks, and snaps just a little better.
If I want an all-out 3D plane(which is what my 100cc planes are for) I would go with the AW. It's a little stronger and can handle the abuse and its shorter moment makes it tumble, waterfall, etc a little more agressively.
Rocco at Aeroworks is a little more cautious about replacing planes just because the customer said it failed due to no fault of their own. If he smells a rat or if the guy comes on the forums and bashes their planes before ever even contacting aeroworks he becomes a little less likely to help you out like he would had the customer kept his cool. If it is legit, Aeroworks will replace the plane or defective part. They are also very proactive about taking care of known problems and will even go as far as contacting customers directly if need be.
My H9 wing failed on the second flight. This happened on a Sunday. I contacted them on Monday and sent them pics. I got a call from them on Tuesday and they apologized for my inconvenience, asked a few questions, and by that Thursday I had a new plane. I even managed to Bill Hempel the plane and it was totally repairable - all I needed was a new wing and new gear. But they insisted that the best course of action for them was to just send me a new kit in case there was other damage that I couldn't see. So, yes, they have good customer service, too.

You are not going to learn which is the best plane here. Buy one and fly it. Give any one to a pro to fly and watch. I dare you to see the difference. One might present itself a bit better in the air but again that might be another ones opinion.

Ummmmmm, bodyworks is a top level IMAC pilot and has had both which should make his advice pretty darn good between those planes! I am a lower level IMAC pilot, have flown both, and they both felt good to me. I think the AW flew heavier for sure...... but in the wind for IMAC thats not neccesarily a bad thing. The H9 looks substantially bigger side by side, and presents big in the air.

You should try to fly or at least look at both, even if you have to go out of your way to. Planes often look quite different in real life.

Well said Matt.
Best post so far in this thread.
The plane that flies the best is based on one thing.
Burning gas.

There arent many (if at all) RC pilots who are limited by an airframe.
The pilot is usually the limiting factor.

I was trying to burn gas, but the fuse broke in half and messed up my engine and servos.

I'm not trying to bash anybody, so I won't reveal the manufacturer.

I've seen too many ARF's break in the last couple of years.
