Default Giant Scale????

Ok, this thread is not to step on any toes but I was wondering something. Where does Giant Scale start. I mean what size constitutes and "Giant Scale" airplane. My opinion is it starts with a 35%er or bigger. What does everyone else think??

The traditional benchmark, set by IMAA, has been 80" monoplane, 60" bipe.

I would suggest that a 12% scale 747 qualifies for Giant Scale....

Hanno Prettner declared in 1973 ... "Any RC model built for Competition or pleasure measuring over 78 inches in wingspan, or more then 11 pounds qualifies for Giant Scale"

I heard him say it!!

Been doing "Giant Scale" since '79 and the IMAA 60-80 rule was always good enough for me. When in doubt.............. Listen for somebody in the crowd make a remark like "Wow, that thing is huge!" Then you know for sure.......

I remember when my first 50cc'r, a 78inch Extra was huge to me. I though i was in giant scale heaven. Now when i look at it i think, i should sell that thing and get it out of the way. I think giant scale is also about constantly going bigger even though i know it stops somwhere. I wonder if giant scale will get so popular one day that going smaller scale will be the new craze. Mabey it already is.
