Default 2009 Huckfest Mid-Season Intermission
Here in the Midwest, August means HOT and HUMID! It tends to be a mini-winter where only the hardcore get out to brave the heat and fly. On days like this I think about all of the awesome events that have taken place over the past few months. We've already had three Huckfests go down that were AWESOME. Rockford opened up the 2009 Huckfest season with with a bang. Once the storms cleared it was full on fun. This Huckfest had the largest gathering of 60% planes flying at once. Three 60% 260's were putting on a show for the crowd. It was an awesome site indeed. The St. Louis Huckfest turned out to be a mini-Heatwave with temps in the upper 90's and humidity that everyone would welcome (if we were wanting to get into a sauna). The heat and humidity didn't stop the guys from putting on an awesome show though. John and Jared brought their HUGE hybrid creation that Jared was hucking INCHES from the ground on Friday. He was putting on a show on Saturday when he forgot to add in some "up" rudder and it caught the wing. Word is that John is going to be rebuilding it for 2010. We didn't have a Snap-A-Saurus contest but we would have had a winner because 66stang did a beautiful Snap-A-Splat front and center. Snap-A-Huckfest was WET on Friday and WILD on Saturday. Those guys out there on the east coast sure know how to have a party. Absolutely beautiful weather with tons of flying with friends makes for a GREAT weekend. Tikka traveled all the way from Norway so I'd bet that he got the long-distance traveler award. Our very own SleepyC was dressed in drag and became Mrs. Snap-A-Saurus for an hour or so (he might need an intervention, but he IS a lesbian at heart). There were also a couple of lovely ladies walking around to liven up the pictures of the planes. Snap-A-Huckfest = BADASS

With just under a month before the next Huckfest make sure that you have your vacation requests turned in and the finishing touches done on your newest plane and get your butt out to one or both of the remaining two Huckfests this year. Napoleon OH starts Sept 11 and Atlanta GA starts Oct 23. These are DON'T MISS events for this fall. SEE YOU AT HUCKFEST!!!!!!
