Default Dalby IMAC Boot Camp

The next event on the 2009 QLD IMAC calendar is IMAC Boot Camp at Dalby on the 5th and 6th of September.

This will not be an IMAC competition. Instead, it will be a weekend aimed at improving the skills of existing IMAC competitors.
  • Sequence coaching and feedback – learn how to fix your zeroes and downgrades
  • Test and tune – try some setup changes to make your plane fly better
  • Freestyle – have a go in a low pressure environment (Sportsman to Unlimited pilots)
  • IMAC Trivia – test your knowledge of IMAC and ASAA
  • Plus much more!
More details to follow...

Zac and I have signed up

Anything to improve our flying and more importantly our judging skills!

Zac feels he needs this as he will be in the judges chair next year when he moves up to Sportsman.

Freestyle - Is that only on scale aerobats Rhino or can people bring another kind of plane to have a go?

Most of us shy away from using our IMAC planes for 3D/Freestyle

Current plan is to start at 10am on Saturday and finish around 2pm on Sunday (5-6 Sep).

Event activities will go into Saturday evening so if you plan to drink - plan not to drive!

I'm hoping most people will travel on Saturday morning and camp at the field Saturday night. The field has excellent camping facilities along with electrical power and modern, male & female toilets and showers. I'll ask the club to cater for lunch & dinner on Sat and breakfast & lunch on Sun.

If you plan to attend then please enter on the ASAA web site. Also, please send me an email if you are wanting to participate in the "have a go at Freestyle" component so I can plan accordingly.

If you have any questions just ask!

I have a saying, if you 3D you must be prepared to bin the plane and I am not prepared to bin the compy!
(forgive me father for I have binned!) I guess having enough fuel comes into that theory somewhere

We might bring the Showtime (if Rhino allows it) if its ready as we are thinking of an electric conversion for it otherwise a foamy for freestyle sounds better to me

Ya comin along Hogboy?

Roy, the "have a go at freestyle" component will be based on the requirements and procedures outlined in the ASAA 2009 Rules document. Entrants should be using an IMAC legal model and this should not be the first time you have tried the high rates switch on your transmitter.

My recommendation is to start high, slow and smooth. There's nothing in the freestyle judging criteria that says you need to be close to the ground and/or out of control. Simply keeping a series of point manouveres in time to some music is probably a good place to start.

Rhino
Will definitely try to make this.
I need all the help I can get.
As for freestyle - why only sportsman to unlimited.
If the pilot wants to give it a rip - why not ?
I dont think anyone will be trying anything outside of their capabilities.
Heck - I might even put together a music combo with some maneouvers that even I can handle.

Gotcha, I'll watch and learn from you Rhino

Guess its time to read that part of the rule book that I have never read - Freestyle.

Mmmm might see if the Pilot RC 260 I am building for DA will be ready in time.

Michael, I might bring Sam along but the girls will sit this one out.

Greg, freestyle is Sportsman to Unlimited as per ASAA rules. But if you want to move up to Sportsman then that can be arranged

Pretty sure its a safety thing greg.. And if some think they have the capability of flying freestyle they shouldn't be in basic.. My opinion only...
