you should check out the Syssa SAP 180:

http://www.syssaaircraft.com/cart/pc...?idCategory=11

I have one waiting for the new EF Extra, but I have heard nothing but good things about the motor.

And yes, they are American designed and manufactured.

mmmm just call jody at valleyviewrc.com and they will tell you all you need about DLE30, if you really change your opinion for just a few comments, i think you will never buy a DA then.... if you read all the opinion of dead sticks, inverted problems, 3k airplanes lost, etc. with DA engines. Just go directly with someone that can tell you whats the real deal on this engines.

Dude, all my planes have DA's in them except for one, a 3W. So it's a hard sell on the DL. With all the problems alot of people have had with them, I stay away. Just thought I would try the little one, now I find out that they cut out in a certain angle. On RCU, I was following a thread on the new 1/4 scale H9 Taylorcraft, I do have the older one with a G23. Am putting H9 floats on it and was thinking of the DL 30 for that too. Well, a couple of those guys had the same problem too. Think I'll just stay away from 'em. That SYSSA motor looks really cool. A little higher in price. I saw it at Joe Nall, Nice motor!! Anyone run it?

The Syssa is comparible in price to the DL when you factor everything the Syssa comes with(muffler, standoffs, ignition switch, etc.) I haven't run mine yet, but here is a good thread on RCU about it:

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_88..._1/key_/tm.htm

Many of the engines that have shipped are still being broken in, so real data is still a month or so out...

Hey classclown, I think I'll wait to see what the Chinese will do about this problem.....wish they would come out with a rear carb version....DA is taking forever with a 25cc-30cc. Syssa 30cc looks sweet...a lil high on the price though.

Has DA said that they are going to release a 30cc?

Syssa is similar in price to the DLE, see post #34

No,all we have is over 80% of the guys here at FG who vote yes for a 25-30cc. I emailed DA yesterday I'm just waiting to hear from them. I hope they'll at least say its on the drawingboard.

Time to shed a little daylight on this subject I think. Most won't like what the'ye being told but it's straight stuff.

If, and it's a very big if, DA was to get around to making a 25-30cc engine, how much do you think it would sell for? I'll bet at least double what any of the similar sized Chinese engines sell for, and mufflers would be extra.

Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, complains that a DA 50 and DA 100 sell for hundreds of dollars more than Chinese 50's and 100's. They can't justify the higher difference in price. if DA made a 25 or 30, how long would it take for the Chinese to copy one and use the copy to undersell the DA?

It makes no sense at all for DA to make a 25 or 30cc engine only to have a small handful of people buy it. It would cost a lot more than any of the current Chinese 26-30cc engines and within months the Chinese copies would hit the market, leaving DA holding the bag on R&D and manufacturing costs for their new product when everyone jumped over to buy the cheaper Chinese engines. DA would spend far more than they would make if they elected to turn out a 25-30cc engine, so don't hold your breath waiting for one.

You guys pretty much crack me up. You don't want to pay for a high quality product but expect high end quality from WalMart priced products. You'll hold off buying lower quality at a lower price and you won't get involved in finding solutions to minor problems with a new design. You'd rather wait for someone else to spend their money and time doing it. Even if the Chinese 26-30cc engines ran perfect, they still would not have an expected life cycle anything close to what is obtainable with a high quality, higher priced product. That also applies to any other sized Chinese engines.

You get what you pay for, and market share, demographics, and blog discussions clearly note that you do not want to pay for high quality. If you really wanted the best quality, or even high quality, you already have the opportunity to buy a Zenoah G-26 or a 3w-28i. But they cost more so you prolly won't go there.

BTW, the DLE 30 runs just fine if you know what you're doing.

DA will prolly never make a 30. Everyone's scratching their heads trying to get their DLE-30 tuned, and I don't think DA wants to deal with that. lol

Hand me a DLE 30 and in 15 minutes of having it mounted it will be tuned. That allows me about 5 minutes for a smoke in the middle of the process....

Well said TOM.

I wonder how long it will be before TBM sends a Syssa off to China to be cloned....

Not nearly everyone. Posts like yours are why this myth has gotten bigger and bigger. Couple of people with actual in air problems, and it turns into a junk engine. I just don't get it.

I never said the engine was "junk." I was just making a remark about the really long DLE-30 thread with a bunch of posts citing problems that could be solved with simple tuning.

Woosa.
