Default Replacing 2800mah cells in a Powerbox Batteries

I bought a used airplane that has a PowerBox 40/20 setup. I really like it. However one of the 2800mah batteries is swollen. So the lipos are going on it.

(1) Has anyone hacked apart one of these batteries and actually soldered on new lipo cells? If so, what lipos did you use?

(2) Are there any cheaper replacement lipo battery packs that I could use?? I guess any 8.4 v 2800mah battery pack would do, but it has special connectors and feedback to the Powerbox CPU and I wouldn't want to trash that.

Thank you
David

Default Re: Replacing 2800mah cells in a Powerbox Batteries

I'm also interested in this.

These batteries don't seem to last very long in my experience... Is it normal that after only 2 years of use, they don't have enough capacity? They sure have a lot of power when new though.

I don't think there is any feedback to the powerbox. Only 2 wires (+ and -) go to the powerbox. The other wires are used to power the built-in charger for the battery pack and for a light to show that the pack is dangerously discharged.
