Default 50cc On a Budget

Hi Guy's

Looking at getting into 50cc, but am wondering whats a good plane to buy. I have been looking at the Dolphinco.com.au Yak54 85" with a DL55. or the peakmodel.com Yak54B with the same motor and looks like they ship free of charge if you purchase plane and motor but I haven't heard anything about their quality etc. Just wondering what other alternatives there are available looking at spending around $1400 plane motor and servos.

Cheers

Mick

Mick, its very easy to get into 50cc size models on a budget without going overboard like many guys do. there is a posted build thread on the Pilot Brand Extra 300 which is around the 2.1 meter span and powered by a DA 50cc , this model is available as an airframe kit so you can add your desired DL-55cc which will give this model even more grunt i would say. you can purchase servos by Hitec at a price or go cheaper and use the HD Brand supplied by Hobby City . com many say there great servos and some say there crap, apparently the larger sized HD servos have a good rating compared to the smaller ones, have a look into this as the cost difference between the two brands is alot, just the same as the new DL-55 from this company where you can buy the engine including shipping delievery for $425 au. another supplier of very good gas / petrol models is ; Model Designs Adelaide , they have partial kits available that are constructed from glass composite / foam veneer wings, great prices.

They have some airframes going at crazy prices too(But not on their site)
Brands they are no longer carrying once sold out.

Look for a good used 50cc plane with a reliable engine, and decent servos. You can save a bunch of money and still have top notch equiptment.

True, I think I'd rather have one of the top shelf ARF's with the best gear used. Way better than getting a budget ARF that doesn't fly well. I know some fly well but I prefer going with the best stuff.

Right now you can usually find good setups in the swapshop for $1200 to $1400.

Hobby City.com have the new DLE -55. when you see the packed weight go to Postage Table for a shipping price to Australia then convert this currency of U.S. dollars to Aussie dollars.
