Clever!
I think I will copy this trick I have heard of many people who have had problems with getting oil hot enough when using cans, so maybe this is a thing to try! ![]() What diameter is used for the brass tube do you think? Thanks! |

Hi Kristian,
Brass tube diameter is about 2.3mm and the go around is because of preheating like classclown mention. Heat is the trick for the good smoke and I just think that this may help even a little. If you have tuned pipe don't put the inlet too close to exhaust port. 80-100mm will be a safe distance, maybe.... Tuned pipes will generate backwaves what may cause the smoke fluid get in the sylinder.

Thanks a bunch for your explanation
![]() I have canisters on my DL100 and I have flex headers, so I will have to place the smoke inlets about 150 mm. away from the cylinder anyway, but thanks for the tip ![]() I see that the brass tube is a little thicker at the tip where the tube will go on, is this something that you made yourself or does it come with the brass tube? Also, do I just buy normal 2,3 mm brass tube, or should I look for something special? Could you tell my how long a piece the brass tube will go into the header? Are we talking 20-30 mm ? And did you squeeze the tube in the end inside the header? Best regards |

It is normal 2.3mm brass tube, 2mm could be fine also.
I dought it 40cm length piece and it's more than enough for both headers. The thicker part at the tip is just for tight fitting to the rubber tube. (short piece of 3.2mm brass tube soldered with the silver) Brass tube goes only 2-4mm in the header and it is free cut, no sqeezing. Last edited by Kime; 12-13-2009 at 12:56 AM. |

About throttle servo, manual strictly advices not to place sevo on firewall as it might be destroyed. Have you tried same servo placement method before ? Just interested as it's most comfartable place for servo installation.
And is C.G. know to anyone ? Last edited by freezer; 12-28-2009 at 07:30 AM. |

I don't think that there is any difference at vibration if the servo is located to the firewall or right behind it.
If you look where planes like ExtremeFlight has the place for throttle servo? Yes, about 50-100mm behind the firewall almost all models. I have EF 50cc Yak where the throttle servo is very close to firewall and after two seasons it's still going strong ![]() But don't use cheap standard servo like Futaba 3001 or 3003. Those can't stand the vibration at all. This is what I get from the CARF about the CG

a little progress with Edge.
Tailwheel, rudder pull-pull cabels and ES-pipes installed. I had to make a new servoarm extension for the rudder because the cabels was getting slack. There is about 15mm offset at the new extension and now cabels are tight at the hole throw. Last edited by Kime; 01-11-2010 at 02:52 AM. |

Yep. Fit a rubber grommet in the hole to protect the tygon line. Likewise, fit a grommet in ALL the holes in the fuse through which you pass a servo wire or ignition wire. The sharp edge of the fiberglass and vibration over time will cut the wires.
Looks great. Looking forward to your maiden flight report.

Thanks for the advise ! I will do that.
There is rubber grommet at the throttle servo wire but for a some reason I don't put those elsewhere... Stupid me
