Default skywriter rx glitch??

Hello.
this happened two weeks ago and again last sunday...
Well I have wanted to add smoke to my plane for a while now...so I purchased a Sullivan skywriter to go on my AW extra35%, so I installed it, and everything was working ok...so I went flying to test the pump....I turned on my plane and tested the pump again....turned the pump off and apparently everything was working great..so I went on and flew the airplane....tested the pump....great!!! I have smoke...but secons later my ailerons started to glitch....I turned of smoke pump and glitch went away, so turned pump on again and the smoke fuel ran out so I turned off the pump and then glitching started again!!!!...so I landed and opened up the plane for testing...after a lot of tests....receiver change....wire checking....and motor on testing....it turns out that....

When I turn on my smoke pump glitch starts, and it keeps on going for some seconds after I shut down the pump, I went home and changed receiver....last sunday came to the field...range check...ok, ...range check with engine turned on....ok, range check with engine on and pump on......glitch started....I took off the pump of the plane.....and flew and everything was OK....it only happens when the pump is connected....

Anyone with the same problem???? comments??...thanks any help would be apreciated

How are you powering the pump? Is it the same battery as the ignition or RX? Did you try putting the pump in a different channel? I know the length of wire on the pump is small so did you change out the extension you are using?

Are you on 2.4 or 72mhz? I am not suggestiong to move to either freq as I believe that you should install your gear to make 72 work that way 2.4 should work as well.

I am powering the pump with a 3cell 700 mah lipo, different from the rx and ignition, I am using 72mhz and i did not use an extension to connect the pump to the rx, the cable was long enough to reach the rx, the only thing I havenīt tried is to switch channel, but I donīt have any other channel free...so, the only way is using a y to connect to a different channel.

The pump is located just in front of the wing tubeand the rx is like 2 or 3 inches back of the wing tube, can it be possible that magnetic field of some sort of the pump is messing with the rx......dont smack me if I am saying something stupid...lol itīs a wild guess....from the top of my head.

Should the pump be far away from the rx....donīt see why since it is connected to it anyway...but can that be a solution??

thanks!!!

Not only could the pump be an issue but the battery could as well. If you can test on the ground do it. Add an extension to the pump and move it further away (at least 6inches). Next move the battery away (at least 6 inches). The goal here is to track down one thing at a time to determine the issue. If ground testing works then also unplug say the rudder and put the pump there to see if its a channel issue. Lastly, when you switched RX's did you swap crystals? You could have a bad TX or RX crystal thats showing its head on this situation. If you can change channels completely try that also. Sometimes a harmonic can happen on a specific freq (I've had it happen)

Another thing to look at is the pump itself. I love the skywriter pump but the motor on the inside is cheap, plain and simple. Check the soder joints on the +- wires on the motor. If you have one that is crappy looking you could be getting some feedback through the RX.

Just do one thing at a time. Otherwise you won't know the cause. It will help you when you get a different plane or it may help you help someone else if you determine the cause.
