Hey guys, we don not have too much to report but it looks like TEAM USA is flying well!!
I'm sure when the guys get some extra time we will get a "full on" report, but until then, Brett sent us the following a day a go:
Below are day three's scores, and of course more pictures from Cindy Wickizer! Thanks again for the pics!! Keep going guys! USA- USA - USA- USA - USA!!! ATTENTION!!! ATTENTION!!! Guys this thread is updating, when we get any info, you get info. I really want to keep some attention on the Championship, so I'm going to leave this thread in the leading edge slot... but keep reading it, Andrew and the guys are reporting back when they can!

It is actually a variable thrust setup not pitch. And I think it is the only setup like it

variable pitch? Is this common for pattern planes?
Looks like yaw vectoring to me. I suspect it's the plettenberg system.

FWIW here are the normalized total for the two groups that have flown in front of all 4 judge panels.
They are normalized after dropping the lowest round. Here are the top ten so far: <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> <meta name="ProgId" content="Excel.Sheet"> <meta name="Generator" content="Microsoft Excel 2008"> <link id="Main-File" rel="Main-File" href="file://localhost/Users/wmalvey/Library/Caches/TemporaryItems/msoclip/0/clip.htm"> <style> <!--table {mso-displayed-decimal-separator:"\."; mso-displayed-thousand-separator:"\,";} .font5 {color:windowtext; font-size:8.0pt; font-weight:400; font-style:normal; text-decoration:none; font-family:Verdana; mso-generic-font-family:auto; mso-font-charset:0;} td {padding-top:1px; padding-right:1px; padding-left:1px; mso-ignore adding; color:windowtext; font-size:10.0pt; font-weight:400; font-style:normal; text-decoration:none; font-family:Verdana; mso-generic-font-family:auto; mso-font-charset:0; mso-number-format:General; text-align:general; vertical-align:bottom; border:none; mso-background-source:auto; mso-pattern:auto; mso-protection:locked visible; white-space:nowrap; mso-rotate:0;} .xl24 {font-weight:700; text-align:left; vertical-align:justify;} .xl25 {font-weight:700; text-align:center; vertical-align:justify;} .xl26 {font-weight:700; mso-number-format:Fixed; text-align:center; vertical-align:justify;} .xl27 {text-align:left; vertical-align:justify;} .xl28 {text-align:center; vertical-align:justify;} .xl29 {mso-number-format:Fixed; text-align:center; vertical-align:justify;} ruby {ruby-align:left;} rt {color:windowtext; font-size:8.0pt; font-weight:400; font-style:normal; text-decoration:none; font-family:Verdana; mso-generic-font-family:auto; mso-font-charset:0; mso-char-type:none; display:none;} --> </style> <table style="border-collapse: collapse;" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="339"> <!--StartFragment--> <col style="" width="114"> <col width="75" span="3"> <tbody><tr height="14"> <td class="xl24" width="114" height="14">SOMENZINI </td> <td class="xl25" width="75">USA </td> <td class="xl25" x:num="1484.4" width="75">1484.4</td> <td class="xl26" x:num="1000.0" width="75">1000.00</td> </tr> <tr height="13"> <td class="xl27" height="13">AKIBA </td> <td class="xl28">JPN </td> <td class="xl28" x:num="1448.6">1448.6</td> <td class="xl29" x:num="1000.0">1000.00</td> </tr> <tr height="13"> <td class="xl24" height="13">JESKY </td> <td class="xl25">USA </td> <td class="xl25" x:num="1424.2">1424.2</td> <td class="xl26" x:num="983.1561507662571">983.16</td> </tr> <tr height="13"> <td class="xl27" height="13">MAYR </td> <td class="xl28">AUT </td> <td class="xl28" x:num="1448.8">1448.8</td> <td class="xl29" x:num="976.01724602533">976.02</td> </tr> <tr height="13"> <td class="xl27" height="13">ZEINER </td> <td class="xl28">AUT </td> <td class="xl28" x:num="1394.0">1394</td> <td class="xl29" x:num="962.3084357310507">962.31</td> </tr> <tr height="13"> <td class="xl27" height="13">KAISER </td> <td class="xl28">LIE </td> <td class="xl28" x:num="1404.4">1404.4</td> <td class="xl29" x:num="946.1061708434383">946.11</td> </tr> <tr height="13"> <td class="xl27" height="13">NORTHEAST </td> <td class="xl28">CAN </td> <td class="xl28" x:num="1394.4">1394.4</td> <td class="xl29" x:num="939.3694421988682">939.37</td> </tr> <tr height="13"> <td class="xl27" height="13">DANKSAGMULLER </td> <td class="xl28"> AUT </td> <td class="xl28" x:num="1393.4">1393.4</td> <td class="xl29" x:num="938.6957693344112">938.70</td> </tr> <tr height="13"> <td class="xl27" height="13">ROMBAUT </td> <td class="xl28">ESP </td> <td class="xl28" x:num="1347.2">1347.2</td> <td class="xl29" x:num="930.0013806433798">930.00</td> </tr> <tr height="13"> <td class="xl27" height="13">BUTUZOV </td> <td class="xl28">RUS </td> <td class="xl28" x:num="1342.0">1342</td> <td class="xl29" x:num="926.4117078558609">926.41</td> </tr> <!--EndFragment--> </tbody></table>

Interesting to see all of those plastic spinners on those high cost
aircrafts.... Do these planes tend to come out nose heavy due to the pull/pull rudder and all the electronics in the fuse center?? |

Just a note, the list I posted may not be accurate becasue I am not sure how they are going to calculate the
final scores for the Preliminaries. There are 3 ways they could do it: Are they normalizing all the pilot's score for each panel and taking the 3 best normalized scores for each pilot? OR Are they dropping the low raw score, totalling the 3 best and then normalizing from there for each flight group? OR Are they going to wait until all the pilots have flown all 4 rounds, drop the low for each and then normalize as a group to get the top 30?? I was just told that #1 is the way they will do it. So my list is wrong.
