Default JR VR6010 Voltage Regulator fan trouble

Has anyone had trouble with the fans on these? I went through two of them so far.The fan works for about 3 flights then stops.I'm not sure if the regulator is working without the fan running.

The only trouble I have had with mine is a couple fan blades have broken off...I have it back at Horizon right now. I did buy 2 so I have a backup just for these problems.

The regulators will work ok without the fan, but I would contact Horizon and advise them about it, they may send you another replacement. How and where do you have it mounted in the plane, could you post a picture. Are you sure that you don't have anything loose inside the plane, like extensions, that could be stopping the fan and causing it to burn out during flight? Again, it will function without the fan, I have one that works off and on and have about 100 flights on it with no problems.

I have one that didn't last 10 flights before the fan went out. I just found out you have to send it in to get it fixed. I noticed Horizon is now selling a replacement fan for $11.99.

I bought two of them, just started up my DLE 55cc airplane and one fan blew apart and the other one stopped working all in about 15 seconds. The fans are not powerful or strong enough to deal with a gas engine.

I mounted mine up near the back of the firewall, I needed all the nose weight I could get, the vibration killed them in seconds.

Does anyone know if they will still be okay without the fans running?

I have 6 HS 7950's and one 7955 and two other smaller servos for throttle and choke, plus running the ignition through them.

I did further investigation of the VR6010 fans stopping. It appears both fans solder joints broke or let loose. The one fan support housing simply broke from vibration and/or was damaged prior to my purchase. The other fan that didn't fly off looks very strongly supported and I don't see how it would break from mere vibration.

Anyone else know anything about the Spektrum VR6010's?

They will work fine without the fan, just make sure you place them in an open area just like you would with any regulator to avoid over heating. I've had some fans go and have others that are still working with many flights.

As usual Hobby Horizons customer support is !!! AWESOME !!! (I Love These Guys and Gals, customer service is number 1) I called them and they said they have never heard of the fans coming apart and said they will send me two replacement fans. It has been about 6 weeks and I have still not received them, backorder? Usually they have stuff out to me in a 3-4 days, I will check on it. When they do come in I will post the results. Meanwhile because I am not drawing a lot of current I am running them without the fans no problems. (thank you mxcop)

I am concerned that one of my batteries always requires twice the recharge of the other battery, I switched the battery leads going to the voltage regulators and the issue followed the battery, so the Hobby Horizon Spektrum equipment is not drawing unevenly. Is it normal for dual batteries to not discharge evenly?
