Default Mac and his B29 are BACK!

As many of you know all around good guy Mac Hodges, the owner of HodgesHobbies, the host of the S.E.F.F. festival lost his HUGE B29 last year. If you ever had a chance to see Mac fly the old B29, you know just how amazing it is to see that big bird fly. Mac put the huge bird through it's paces including hard core aerobatics. Flat spins, torque rolls, giant rolls, and even one foot inverted fast passes, Mac did it all with his giant B29 and really pushed the envelope.

Everyone was sad to hear about the crash last year, and even more so when the word got out that Mac's friend and the builder of the plane has passed just a week earlier. That was truly a sad day, and many wondered if there would ever be another B29.

Well that question was answered this past weekend when Mac debuted his new Giant B29 at his own field at Hodges Hobbies. I am so happy to see Mac with another B29. There would be something missing at Joe Nall each year without seeing this big bird fly!

Roving FG reporter Chris Campos (TeamFlatout) sent this report from the field Saturday!

Quote:
Well it was an eventful day here at Hodges Hobbies. A crowd gathered and watched as we did all preflight checks on the new B29. All checks turned out perfect. Mac did a short taxi and went immediately to full throttle. The B29 came off the field with no problem. No trim to any flight surface was needed at all. We flew it around the patch a few times and Mac did one roll. After about 5 minutes Mac decided to land. People held their breath as Mac set the main gear down and made the best landing ever. The crowd cheared and everyone in attendance was smiling again.
We finally have both Hodges Hobbies babies back at the field now, the Cub and finally again the big B29.
Thanks Chris!

Congratulations Mac! We all can not wait to see the new B29 at fly-in's all over the country!!

The 29 has several new items on it. Currently the motors are ZDZ Super 80's. One new addition was an extra servo on each surface. Now each surface has two servos driving it. We did a total of 3 flights and one X-1 drop. X-1 went perfect. Had some very minor issues with the cowls, but they were fixed and the fight is on. The following fly-ins should have the B-29 there, GMA Atlanta Warbirds, Bomber field and the Dan Stevens Memorial. Others to follow.
