And I had to miss all this to drive all the way to Nashville to play in the mud for four days. Oh well, some days chicken, some days feathers.

I remaidened the raffle 3W extra today. She's a little bit on the chubby side, but flies pretty good. I've got a little bit of motor work to do, but not bad for a free airplane! Nick

The 26/10 that came with it for now. It needs a new diaphram for the carb. Does anyone know which Tillteson (?spelling) carb is on those 85 twins? Also, I think I bent the wing tube as well. I don't remember it being bent when I put it in!

you should be able to get the diapharm from an auto parts store just give them the model numbers on the Carb. If not Bobby at cactus Avaition or Geheart at Aircraft International will have them. Mike at graphtech will have an unbendable wing tube (832)*335-0328. Have fun with her and sorry about the diapharm. |

The 2009 Inaugural Texas ShootOut was a huge success. This was an IMAC / FreeStyle / Raffle / TAG Event We ended up with:
IMAC contest – With 65 paid registered pilots and a beautiful weekend, the stage was set. Although an unforeseen, thick fog on Saturday morning ended up delaying the first round by nearly an hour and half, once the first pilots got up into the air it was non-stop flying. Then the sky cleared and everyone from the pilots to the judges did a stand-out job of being in place and getting in two full rounds of IMAC and a full Freestyle round. There was even some time left for open flying before the sun set. Sunday was beautiful and clear and by noon the 3rd round of IMAC was completed. This set the stage for the audience judged Best of show. The winners were:
Freestyle – The freestyle event included big names such as FAI USA World Team competitor Brett Wickizer,TOC Competitor Rick Byrd, and ETOC Competitor & plane designerLee Ulinger, as well as our local top level talent Keith Commander, Josh “BoneDoc” Young and Wyatt Hughes. The freestyle event was absolutely thrilling. Since this event took place later in the afternoon, many spectators had the opportunity to marvel at the exciting and daring aerobatics being performed. No one will forget Joseph Young’s (Bone Doc) insane, knife-edge blenders! The audio system was truly top notch and not only could you hear the music, you could feel it too! This amazing audio equipment was graciously provided and operated by Greg Ward of Oklahoma. Huge thanks, Greg! As is becoming standard these days, the flying did not stop at night! Several of the club members were flying Lee Ulinger’s 3D foamies equipped with night lights, as well as 80 mph foam Strykers with their unbelievably bright LEDs that kept the night sky lit up for hours of entertainment. At the same time there was a big screen set on on the flight line for those who did not have their night flyers and Simulator time had a big crowd. $32,000 worth of Prizes – Some of the local pilots held winning tickets and it was nice to see their faces light up as they received the incredibly generous prize that were given away. I have never seen so many high-dollar prizes up for grabs. There was also a separate pilot’s raffle with 237 prizes. This was a real treat because each pilot’s name was called at least three times during the event for a turn at hand picking some valuable goodies at the front desk. AMA TAG Program -- This is the life blood to our hobby and Jetero made it a huge success. They managed to successfully take 43 new pilots (66% of them between the ages of 10-12) through a 10 minute ground school, 10 minute Simulator training, then into actually flying for 5 to 10 minutes. This set the stage for non-stop smiles all around. It was all done with:
In Summary -- John and I want to thank the following:
Be sure to check out www.Jetero.com (under IMAC ShootOut) for IMAC Results, pictures and videos as well as Higher Planes Productions for event coverage. This was a truly amazing event and we look forward to having everyone back next year. Check back on Jetero's website as we'll announce the date once we get approval. On behalf of Jetero RC, thank you! Damon Darnall Last edited by TX Newbee; 10-02-2009 at 02:11 AM. |
