Oh no. Invasion of the Lama boys.
I hear what your saying on the linkages Jim. Kinda strange they would be short. Cory |

Hi Cory,
The aileron linkages may be O.K., but I'd rather have just a little more thread engagement and be sure. Plus I had the Pro-links on hand. Better safe than sorry. ![]() Jim |

I've got the rudder glued on. I'll work on the stabs now while that glue sets.

Is anyone trying to figure out if its worth the extra money for the optional carbon fiber parts? I just put some parts on the scale.
The carbon fiber stab tubes will save you 1 oz of weight. The carbon fiber wing tube will save you 3.7 oz of weight. The carbon fiber tailwheel will save you 1.5 oz of weight. The carbon fiber landing gear is due in stock in a couple of weeks. I don't have that yet, but I believe you would save about 7 to 8 oz with the carbon fiber landing gear. I'll weigh it and let you know for sure when I get it. Jim Last edited by Hammbone; 09-01-2009 at 04:25 PM. |

Stabs are done now.
I found the same situation on the elevator linkages as I did on the aileron linkages. The 2-1/2" stock elevator linkages only gave me about 1/4" of engaged threads in the ball links. Again, this is probably O.K., but now I had extra 3" linkages left over from the ailerons (the stock ones that I didn't use), so I put 2 of them to use on the elevators and got a good 1/2" of thread engagement on the ball links. Basically, if you just thread the ball links on all the way, your linkage will come out at the right length. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the linkages that Aeroworks provided, but I just feel a little better about having more thread engagement on the ball links. Better safe than sorry. Hey Antonio,
I'm shooting for some time this weekend. It's a 4 day weekend for me so I should have plenty of time to fly. I hear you're getting a "Project" Extra 300.... |

Dang, I just realized that I'm running out of things to do already while I wait on parts.
There's a few more little things I can do...... mount the tail wheel, mount the fuel tank, mount some radio components, but then I'm going to be sitting around and waiting for parts. I'm waiting for the engine. I'm waiting for the carbon fiber landing gear. I'm waiting for the rudder servo. I've always used 2 rudder servos on 35% airframes thus far, but on this plane, I've decided to try out one of the new Futaba S9157 servos, and use just one servo to save some weight. This servo is rated at 425 in oz of torque at 6v. I will be using A123 batteries at 6.6v, so if my math is correct, that will give me 467.5 in oz of (rated) torque at 6.6v. If the actual torque is close to the rated torque, I should be in good shape. Jim |

Here's pics of the wingbags I got for "Pumpkin". I figured that they just had to be orange.
