Well I gotta say it and I don't care what anyone else says.....This looks like an Edge to me.
With so many other Edge representations out there, very few look like the real deal with the exception of Cardens and maybe one or two others. Either they are too long, too flat or so far off scale they're just plain nasty looking. But this is not too bad at all even down to the flattened hatch and decent outline of the tail feathers and that canopy shape is a first for accuracy in shape and height too. I like this one. Does it have counter balances on the ails? |

[quote=Hammbone;865525]
I've always used 2 rudder servos on 35% airframes thus far, but on this plane, I've decided to try out one of the new Futaba S9157 servos, and use just one servo to save some weight. This servo is rated at 425 in oz of torque at 6v. I will be using A123 batteries at 6.6v, so if my math is correct, that will give me 467.5 in oz of (rated) torque at 6.6v. If the actual torque is close to the rated torque, I should be in good shape. You will be pleased with the 9157's, Fytaba's are actully under rated, and at 6.6v it will surprise you. Best centering outthere...JMO [quote=Hammbone;865657]I pulled all the balsa out that makes up the cannister tunnel, since I will be using stock mufflers and don't need a cannister tunnel. This saved me 3 ozs of weight. It comes out pretty easy with just your fingers. Push and pull and break it out. It doesn't take very long either. Makes you kinda quiver to think the rest of the airframe is that easy to come apart too huh, (any arf)? I would suggest while you wait, to wick thin ca into all joints you can reach....JMO |

Here's a couple pics showing the cannister tunnel is gone.

Now I'm going to show you what I did on my Aeroworks Extra 300, and what I've just done to this Edge. It works out real good as an air exit for the cowl when using stock mufflers.
I installed a piece of balsa in the forward part of the fuse which deflects the air down and out a hole that they have in the front of the fuse for cannister exits. All I had to do was open up the covering, the hole was already there. Now I don't have to put a big air exit hole in the cowl. Like I said, I did this to my Aeroworks 35% Extra 300, and it worked real good. Jim |

WOW! You guys sure did post alot. Looking good Jim.
![]() I like that air deflector instead opening up the cowl. Those wing bags are very nice. You got those from Carden? I may have to have them do some for me for my 330SC. Cory |

http://www.carden-aircraft.com/wingb...x-wingbags.htm They give you the dimensions so you can figure out which ones will work good for your wings. Jim link didn't work right. Click on Carden Online store, and then wing bags. Last edited by Hammbone; 09-01-2009 at 11:20 PM. |

Jim, what are you up today? There's almost nothing to get together before the engine arrives... What if you grab one of your jets and send it to BME to expedity your engine, attached to the top of the model so you can be ready Friday? Do you think you have enough range on that 12X of yours to fly it that far???
![]() Just kidding... This is my way of saying good morning buddy... ![]() Good morning to all of you guys out here too...

I've got some little things to work on today while I'm waiting. I can also take an iron to all of the covering while I'm waiting.
Anyone else assembling one of these planes right now? Join in with the discussion. Jim |

Hey Jim, isn't this the same airplane but just in another thread? Mark started it, right?
I thought it would be good to post the link here... http://www.flyinggiants.com/forums/f...dge-540-a.html |

Hey Antonio. Good morning to everyone.
Jim. My buddy Eric isn't on the net and he has his Edge ready to Go! Maiden is saturday at M.A.S. Trying to get him to come to Lama maybe friday but I think he has to work. He's got a new but older 3W 100ib2 in his. Cory |

Cool.
I was talking with Rocco this morning, and he was saying that there are at least 4 of these Edge's flying now and everyone loves them. He said it is about 1-1/2 lbs lighter than the Extra 300 too. I've got my graphics now, so I can install them while I continue to wait for items I've ordered to complete the plane. Jim |
