Default How to compare the power output of the gas and glow engines?

Hello!

Could there be some rules of thumb to apply to compare glow and gas power?

The thing is, I am wondering how big a 4-stroke glow engine might equal the power output of a 50cc gas engine in an aerobat plane, such as extra or Sukhoi, etc.? Or the same of a 40cc gas engine?

thanks, I appreciate any hints

Look at any of the glow engine web sites there's specs on their engines right there. Cross ref that with the gas engine you want to compare to.
But your comparing a 4 st against a 2 st. One has more BHP the other has more torque so not a good way to draw a conclusion. Better to use prop sizes as a benchmark.

Here is a chart that will give you an idea what a gas engine will do on what plane weight.
