Yep, you sure can. I don't use any power expanders at all myself. I think they're a waste of weight and space. Except I use Spektrum receivers.

Not sure what you exactly mean. I use 10 JR 8711s on my 120" QQ Yak. The two aileron servos are plugged into a matchbox, and the 3 rudder servos are in a matchbox as well. This is all with the Spektrum AR9100 receiver.

Hey Seth,

Did you take a look at the rx he's linked to?????

While I'm a big fan of the PowerSafe rx's as well, I really question whether or not the Airtronics rx will handle much power?

While all the 9 channel and above Spektrum/JR rx's will handle 35 amps continous, Bax over on the RCU support forum has said the 6014 will only handle 8 amps, what do you suppose the Airtronice is gonna handle???

I've not seen any tech specs for that rx the OP linked to, but I was kind of looking at the specs on the 10 channel Airtronics as a friend just bought one and that rx says input voltage is 4.8 to 6 volts so I question if the buss is going to take much amperage on that Airtronics stuff?

Just a thought.....

I guess I don't understand what you're saying here. I'm not big into electronics, and don't know too much about it. Many receivers normally take 4.8 to 6v into the receiver. I've never used a power expander on anything of mine. Only been flying the 2.4 receivers since last year. Used the JR R2000 72mhz receiver before that.

Seth, you are using a power expander in your setup. The 9100 Spektrun RX has a built in, redundant power bus deigned for giant scale applications. Unless the RX he is planning to use has this built in, I would suggest he uses a power expander of some sort.

I've never used a power expander, even before I used the 9100, when I used the R2000...
