Default Why I'm down with the Giants,

Guys, just wanted to share a couple quick thoughts. Wanted to thank all of you for keeping the site on the positive tip. Having a community of 7,000 people and having almost zero drama, bashing and flaming is astounding. You guys are keeping the vibe and for the lion's share moderating ourselves. Somebody goes off, usually it's our members that bring them back into what we're all about.

After Toledo and now the Nall, it's been a real pleasure shaking your hands. We're blessed with some mighty fine folks. The Flying Giants have become a real community based on a common interest and mutual respect. The fact we can do this and still give each other a good ribbing makes this not just a web site, but a community I'm really proud to be associated with.

I'm also astounded at how much information is being shared. Just seems like questions get answered in a way we can all understand. The folks who REALLY know what they're talking about have an ability to break down complex subjects in layman's terms.

The videos and stills you guys are posting are unreal! I can't tell you how many times I've blasted through vids, and still haven't scratched the surface of what's there! Thanks for sharing!

As we continue to grow, PLEASE help keep the vibe what it is. I think one of the cool things is we're growing mostly by word of mouth. Seems as though you folks are only telling your cool friends, our new members are getting what we're all about without having to have "be nice 101" plastered all over the place.

Thanks for being here everyone. When I'm wearing a Flying Giant shirt or hat it's really starting to mean something. I'm super proud of what you guys are making the Flying Giants. It's not a web site, it's a community of friends intent on sharing info, helping someone with trouble and promoting the positive side of our hobby. You guys (and gals!) are embasadors of the hobby. Keep up the good work!!

Thanks everyone for making another fyling site a real community!
You guys rock!!!

I feel exactly the same Biff! There are many sites out there where you can go for info, advice, etc, but you usually have sift through 10 or 20 post to actually get a hint of useful info. On top of that, it seems like when a site gets big, the camaraderie is somewhat lost and attitude of the entire group changes. I am SO HAPPY that it is completely opposite here! It is like an online version of going to a fun fly. I told my wife before while we were dating that when you go to a flying event, it is like meeting old friends for the first time. I feel the same way on here.
Thanks to all involved with starting and maintaining the FG!!!

Well said Biff.

It is so important that we keep it fun positive and safe.

Australian Scale Aerobatics Association ASAA commenced three years ago with this mind set and flying Giants have provided the conduit to foster this feeling for all our members. Great site guys, well done.

I propose we make a pact to one day all get together and challenge each other for the Giants team of champs beer drinking contest. I'll back the giants down under to place first.

Oh no Rick what have you done. Just ask Frazer what some of these guys are like in a boat race. "Kegs with heads" I think was the term used.

And the cake hole on those heads puts Fred Flinstone to shame!!! I believe that most of them resemble that chap from the cartoons of long past years "Milton the Monster" who had a flip top head.

Rick me ol'e mate you are voted coach, first, second,....... and anchor, we will all be there to offer you moral support though!!

It's thanks to guys like you Biff and Mad Max that we have such a great forum to share ideas, experiences and comraderie. The last 3 years going to the Tucson Shootout have been made all the more special to me because of you guys. Comp days it's game on and then after hours it's as you guys say, such a blast. I have many fond memories from those trips and there's more to come. Look forward to catching up next time and to look after you guys when you travel downunder.

Cheers mate

Ian, Mick, Rod, as team OZ you guys have to carry the weight at Tuscon 2006. I know it will be a weight to carry but hey I know you are up to it. Lets call it the preliminary round . I know you will soften these guys up for the real boat race in 2007. You never know who might also turn up at Tuson 2006 .

I'm going to resurrect this thread because I wasn't a part of the party back then. I don't recall how I stumbled onto FG, but since that fateful stumble I've found myself on the edge of a community I remember once belonging to. I thought I'd left that all behind when I moved from Oklahoma to San Diego....that smaller-town vibe just doesn't seem to exist with the 'new' local club members out here. I was stoked to learn that the FG crew is just up road a bit (though I haven't crashed any shindigs yet), had a blast at TAS, and as I read more through these forums I'm feeling more at home. Finding old flying buddies on here helps cap that sense as I used to fly with RyanW back in the day in Stillwater, OK. It's CRAZY to me to see a 'face' from my old home club on the big bad internet.

What I'm trying to say in all that is...you guys rock...and should you need an alternate for the next boat race, I'm in.
