Default Looking for help to a starting point

Hi,my name is Glenn, age 40 and looking for some good advise on a starting point to get into Giant scale.I will be coming off a trainner and was looking at somthing in a 50cc.At first i thoght it might be nuts to try this but after reading some of the post on here i feel better about my focus in this hobby. I dont know to much about whats what. The aero works extra 300 and extrem flight have been the two that have caught my eye the most with the DA 50 to power. Is used ready to go a bad route or start fresh and learn about the plane as i build?Any help would be a plus.I live in CT so if there is anybody out there to hook up with local about this that would also be a big help to me. Thanks for your time Glenn

Welcome to FG ! Be very very careful. RC planes are as addictive as any drug.

No one around you fly any of the larger planes ? I am mainly "pinging" your post to keep it on the front page longer but there are so many good planes to start with (these days) it is crazy.

This particular step is hard to explain for me online. Better someone near you that has one or more to show you would be better. Definately to help you make the transition from flat bottom airfoil w/dihedral wing to the likes of an Extra.

Hey Glenn,
I'm also from CT. I fly at the Rockyhill and the Swampflyers clubs. You're more than welcome to come and visit, fly , we'll talk airplanes and get you situated.

Welcome Glenn! With all of the good advice and support you'll get from everyone on FG, you'll be set for success. Once you fly a big plane, you'll never want to "go small" again!

Go to www.wildharerc.com. Look at the package deals. The planes already know how to fly and are just waiting for their owners to match the plane's ability. Prices are good to help a guy out as well.

MAn I have had Aeroworks and others but if you want a perfectly balanced plane with top notch quality go to troy built models and buy a Pilot EXTRA 300 with a DL . Youll save 200 on the plane and 150 on the engine compared to a da and it's just as good . I will be recieveing my 50cc pilot Extra 300 and will have a build thread in a couple of weeks . I also have a 100 cc 260 from pilot! and you can contact Tony from pm's directly from here instantly with help . You cant get that anywhere else!
